That tower in Edmonton is so high compared to everything else... sticks out like a sore thumb!

Is it the tower that is very high or just the rest of Edmonton that is comparatively low?

For a tower that is not that tall, relative to other towers in the country. It looks like an absolute monster tower in Edmonton. Yes, it says something that the skyline is not that high (..yet) so maybe this is that start of something good there.

The municipal airport overlay restricted much of the city to about 20 storeys, thankfully it will be gone shortly.

It's the neighbourhood it's in. A couple kilometers from the core. It's also a stunning and high quality tower, hardly a "sore thumb."

The Pearl much taller than the towers immediately around it (in the Oliver neighbourhood) because the closure of the city centre airport allowed for signficantly taller buildings and this is the first taller one.

It's shorter than many of the buildings in the background but they are about 15-20 blocks further back and the perspective makes it look taller.

I thought I was going to think that as well, but in person it fits in very nicely and gives a hint toward the future of the skyline. I would expect big things soon for Edmonton. Soon could be 10+ years though......

Hendrix apartments, lower centre white, will be 29 storeys and about 8-10 floors taller than anything as well and is about 1/2 way between downtown and the Pearl.
