Brookfield Twin Towers are the 2013 version of Husky Twins. Thoughts?

Good question.

Personally I think the level of detail in the design will elevate Brookfield Place above the Husky twins by a far margin. The glass atrium space that will eventually be between the two is going to be an amazing public space.

The devil of this project will be in the details, and I think Brookfield is going to make sure the spit and polish will be very nice on these twins.

I just wonder if there are any slight revisions they can incorporate to distance Brookfield Place from Husky a bit more? Some stepping perhaps? A slice out of one side?? Dont take the pictures too literally. I obviously realize the images I show are more than a "slight revision."

Will Brookfield use curved glass, or will they just facet the corners like Husky? I'm guessing the latter.

I wouldnt want curved glass on my project......to many troubles down the road. I would be fine with faceted.

As they are already at Building Permit stage and want to start construction next month I wouldn't be holding my breath for design changes.

But it's always fun to imagine.

I really don't think they're reminiscent of Husky at all (and I'm staring at Husky as I type this). As Bigtime says, the detail in the design and level of finishings is what will make this project stand out, far more than any "slight revision", meaningless slice, or POMO bauble would ever do. I'd take a beautiful box over either of those two examples (especially the 2nd) any day.

Let's just pray that Brookfield actually does give us a beautiful box.

I thought Brookfield took the Esso Plaza blueprints and just updated them.

two identical slab buildings on single block? check!

rotate one building 90 degrees? check!

south-facing plaza? check!

I thought it was mentioned in an earlier article that the top corners would be whole pieces, and that this was some unique feature??

There are a lot of "Boxy" type buildings that have gone up all over NA.... Some are great... Some aren't! Brookfield may tweak this a little bit here and there, but I think it'll be alright.

I'm very excited to see this building completed. I may even stay living in Calgary JUST to see it happen.

The two biggest factors in how this project will turn out from an aesthetic point of view in the skyline is the glazing and type of materials used and what exactly this "crowning" feature will look like (I can't really tell from the render)

Don't think Brookfield will cheap out on materials for this one, so I've got my hopes that they'll build a stunning box

From what I can tell on the permit status, the BP's on hold because revisions to the development site servicing plan are still under review

Appears there is a pre construction meeting Oct 7th .. Might not see groundbreaking until late October perhaps
