Perhaps 'gauche' is the better term to describe this development?

except for the weird looking roof, this is another nice infill on tache. some of those suites will have great views of the river, bridge and CMHR.

My thoughts exactly. Other than the faux roof thing, it seems to be a good fit...

the materials are really tacky. the building just looks suburban and generic.

I see. So would it be more urban if there was ground floor retail or something like that? And no cultured stone or whatever it is? I would rather have a masonry exterior than whatever that black and white crap is going up across the river.

To me, it seems like a good fit. I don't see Tache becoming a new Provencher or anything like that. Just the end of the existing residential area with nice park across the street.

That's a really nice, walkable neighbourhood too.

Normally I don't mind uncool-looking condo buildings like Rive Gauche on the basis that they at least add a bit of density to the area... that holds true for this building but given its prime location you'd think it would have justified something a bit nicer. It's nice to see North St. B moving in the right direction overall, though.

Ongoing SHED development

There’s a sign posted today indicating they’re relocating the bus stop just outside of cityplace on eastbound Graham to accommodate the SHED development at Graham and Donald. The stop’s being moved one block east to Graham and Smith. I’ve always thought Graham and Smith would be a better location for it at as there’s so much more room there along the library as it’s set quite a ways back from the curb.

Is anything happening with the former National Typewriter building on Portage Ave? It looks like some work is going on.

That will be an interesting facade. Like it or not, it's texture and colour will create some dialog.

The only problem now, there is no bus stop eastbound Graham from Edmonton to Smith! That's quite the distance.

Congrats 1ajs as someone who lived in the neighborhood I know you'll love it. Nice thing is you're close to PD to sneak a roll of TP or get a free meal
