Good luck Mini! Best of wishes. You have to do what's best for your family and your kids will thank you when they're older for being closer to their grandparents and uncles/aunts cousins. Victoria is a fantastic city one of my close friends is living there currently.

I had a similar story in some ways...I had to move to Calgary more permanently for various reasons (for now, it's for the time being and I'm hoping to be back either next Sept or the following depending) but It's true; you can leave Winnipeg but it can never leave you!

^ It would be fantastic to have something like that fill in one of the remaining vacant lots around the Exchange District. I really like how the storefront space is that bright and open... as nice as the old warehouses are, they do tend to be a bit impermeable and don't project very well to the outside. The density bump would be wonderful too.

Looks like there's a new WRHA Access Center going up behind the box stores on Pembina at Plaza. 3 story building. Also, Sportchek there is closing to move to their new location on Kenaston by the Brick.

What a bizarre location for a building... In between big box stores and a busy highway. You cant even access it off Bishop Grandin. Also seems strange that it will be built parallel to the road and not the other buildings.

I won't complain about the building itself however, a three story there is a nice surprise

Sure a big change for that location from when it was a Kmart at the West end and a Dominion on the east end with a few small chain retailers in the middle.

I can't remember was there also an MLCC in there at one time? My uncle use to live in the apartments on Admar so I use to go in the mall with him the odd time to help carry some of his heavier purchases home.

The Homewood Suites nearish to the airport and Polo Park has been added to the Hilton hotel directory. Opening date listed as December 2013. This will give Winnipeg three Hilton properties, at least for now. I have my doubts that the Hilton just outside the airport will remain as a Hilton. Just my speculation, but it may change to a different chain or re-flag within the Hilton family.

A crumbling, hollow storage space underneath a west Exchange District sidewalk has pitted a building owner against city officials over who is responsible for stabilizing the abandoned underground cavern.
Daniel Lojo went to city hall this week to appeal an order directing his family to develop and carry out a plan to shore up the cavern that wraps around the north and west sides of the building at 216 Pacific Ave.
Lojo said the stabilization work could cost a minimum of $100,000, adding the unexpected expense could jeopardize his family's attempt to renovate a century-old building that has been vacant for several years.
