When I posted I likely should have stated "lower 48".

I think this one should be a easy one to figure out since they operated to YEG many years ago when market conditions were nothing like they are now.

I can't say much more. But a very obvious destination that at the moment has a nearby competitor.

Obviously Salt Lake City. Back in 1995, SLC (Delta) and MSP (Northwest) were the only transborder flights we had.

AA has never served YEG with their own metal. So this takes out AA to DFW from the equation.

Another problem for DFW is that WS/AA is retreating from YYC-DFW market expirement. I doubt they would launch YEG-DFW at the same time as trying to figure out YYC-DFW market profitability.

I agree with Hallsy, DL to SLC is the most likely candidate.

Big deal. SLC was flown until a couple years ago. It'll come, it'll go. It's importance=hardly any.

Define "couple of years ago"...the SLC service ended sometime around 1997 IIRC.

^ It ended a couple of years ago when Delta swallowed Northwest and decided to focus more on MSP from YEG.

AA did serve YEG with its own metal back in the late 80's early 90's with a 721 and then MD-80's.

That route was DFW-YYC-YEG.

And yes it will be a new livery, infact a very new livery for even the airline question.

AA new livery already known. Aeromexico getting new livery soon that has not yet been seen...according to airliners...

If it will be AA to DFW then let the competition begin with UA to IAH. And i haven't disagreed with Hilman for a while so no AA's new livery is not awesome.

AA was in YEG 15+ years ago. I flew the DFW route many times. But I just have a hunch it wont be them. I would have said WS to DFW but if they are retreating from the YYC route then I doubt it would be that either. That really leaves only SLC with Delta and I put my money on that.

But if it is new livery (to YEG ?) then maybe one of the discount carriers?

I would make you that bet. I could see Delta adding LAX before SLC from YEG. As WS and AA do not have joint venture And Ws just starting DFW it will be AA.

We are talking scheduled service so no one is suggesting a new charter to a sun destination. But the more of those the better.

I checked with my YEG source. AA did indeed fly YEG-YYC-DFW daily service but it was back in the ealy to mid 80s.

BY the time AA and CP/PWA got together, the YEG-YYC portion was flown by CP with AA codeshare. This is the service mentioned by Lubicon. In 1999 CP started YEG-ORD service codeshared with AA, this was YEG first openskies new route.

We used to fly American to Dallas and connecting flights into the Caribbean...did this many many times. I believe it was on an MD something or the other and back then it seemed a big deal.

Did someone here say that AA was withdrawing from YYC? Is that fact?? I see YYC still listed as a destination.
