I didn't go last year which was my first summer here. We went to Edmonton's earlier this year and it was awesome and so fun. Was my first time going to a pride parade since I was 17! and in between that time and now I've lived in Toronto, Ottawa, Vancouver, and now here! So it's crazy that Edmonton is my first one in 5 years

But I'm pretty excited to march again. It's almost an enlightening experience, walking through and seeing, first hand, every single demographic of people coming out to support civil rights and freedom... the last great civil rights challenge of the modern era. Quite amazing.

Thanks for saying this! I was on the board for the past 4 years (took this year off). When I started, we had an attendance of about 4000. Last year, 30,000. I think I will likely run for the board again in the next year or two.The committee has worked very hard to grow it into what it has become today, so it always makes my heart smile to see comments like this.

Calgary pride is WAYYYY better now. And so far it has been consistently hot since moving it to September. The June pride in the rain was AWEFUL. September pride in the prairies is a really good idea in my opinion.

Parade turnout was INSANE. Absolutely the biggest one yet- I know we say that every year, but it has to be true. Here's the tail end of the parade as the crowd moves from Stephen Ave in the direction of Millennium Park:

Yeah it was busy for sure. I'm not gay myself, but went to the parade to show support. It's at least tripled from what it was the last time I went which was about 4 or 5 years ago.

Just wanted to say, very impressed with your Pride, all. Lots of fun, but without setting gay acceptance/impressions back 100 years with a circus of foolishness that even exceeds a regular night at the best clubs.

Thanks Signal! It is a very nice Pride here. Edmonton's is still bigger, for some reason. But I keep hearing how quickly Calgary's is growing, which is nice. Both were really fun!

Calgary's has been playing catchup. Edmonton's used to be about triple the size 10 years ago, but now they are pretty close - a testament to the change in this city and also to those that have been organizing the Calgary parade.
