There's one tower you're not counting. The 640' tower proposal is now 605' because the site is only zoned for 550' with a tower extension up to 10% permitted for unoccupied space -- that's Tower 2 of the 50 First proposal. The Golden Gate University parcel is in addition to that and is zoned for 700'. Look closely at the PDF I linked to earlier, and you can see that Ecker Place delineates the two.

Wow, I never noticed that. Thanks for the map, I'd never seen a height limit map where i could get such a close look, and I'd been assuming all along that the site zoned for 700' there was the same as the site of 50 First street tower 2.

The "east" corner is already taken by the Millenium Tower, and the "north" corner is where 350 Mission is going to be.

I saw steel girders arriving on-site today, FYI. I think they are going to start doing foundation/steel without the tower crane, at least in the beginning.

if you look more closely, you'll note two distinct colors on the ORH site.

the taller tower is on a 550' height limit and used the upper tower extension.

yeah, just struck me as sort of surprising that they'd zone for such heights on two such small lots directly across from each other, especially with the transbay tower right there. same with the next block, with the 1st street towers and the 700 foot max for the golden gate site, another surprisingly tight cluster, which is fantastic even though i actually really like the ggu building.

So new steel isn't arriving - they are taking the steel away from the support structure (where the large derrick crane was and the large excavator), presumably to put in the tower crane. See below.

^Thanks for that shot. I walked by yesterday and was disappointed that I couldn't see anything but fencing on all sides. It's cool getting a sneak peak down in the hole.

It's obvious now that if I wanted to be in the Breaking News department, I should have posted all my photos when I first got home yesterday instead of going out to have fun. Simms and I were definitely on a parallel course!

Saw that they had completed the installation of the Liebherr luffing crane after SPUR meeting on Thurs. Seems like there are two Liebherr luffings moving around SF construction sites.

Welcome. Three actually - 350 Mission, 535 Mission, and ORH North. 350's has a very tall boom it seems, quite a large crane, but not surprised given the constrained site and the need to increase lift power by sheer crane mass...only one way to "bend" - up!

350 Mission viewed from Millennium tower. That crane is nearly ~360 ft up, and is not a Schering Liebherr luffing tower crane...the crane rental comes from Bigge, which is "big" in the western USA, and after invesgtigating its website I have determined it has to be a Potain luffing crane...probably the one of the models at my links below.

http://www.biggetowercrane.com/tower-crane-charts/POTAIN-MR605.pdf

http://www.biggetowercrane.com/tower-crane-charts/MR405.pdf

All sorts of crane information...Schering's site also has a lot of crane information for the nerds who are interested.
