Well, yes...maybe I should have been clearer?

I can't keep straight where I see news, so I assume a lot of others here see just as much of it as I do.

I simply meant to point out that there will be much more activity in the Hudson Yards area besides this development.

Obviously. The whole point of posting news articles is so others may read as well. The Hudson Yards district will include a number of developments.

The developer wants to snag another tenant at the site and hopes Sotheby's will occupy the retail podium that would connect the first two office towers at Hudson Yards.
It will be a natural flow for other companies to jump to the west side, just as it will be for others to stay in the more established districts of Midtown and Downtown. That's the thing about the pool of companies in NY from which to draw on. There really is enough for everyone.

Going, Going, but not Gone Yet: No Related Bid for Sotheby’s Headquarters

Commercial Observer
Gus Delaporte
25 July 2013

Related Companies has not bid on Sotheby’s Upper East Side headquarters as part of a deal to bring the international auction house to Hudson Yards, a source familiar with the matter told The Commercial Observer.

Earlier reports suggested Related was eyeing a bid for the property at 1334 York Avenue. The reported deal, a 1031 tax-free exchange, would see Sotheby’s buy or lease a significant portion of the 750,000-square-foot retail podium connecting the first two Hudson Yards office towers, according to a story yesterday in the New York Post.

Though conversations have been held about potentially bringing Sotheby’s to Hudson Yards as a tenant, discussions are at an early stage and do not involve a bid for the auction house’s property, the source familiar noted. Another source said Sotheby’s may not be the only party interested in the space at Hudson Yards.

Last month it was revealed Sotheby’s was exploring the sale of its 500,000-square-foot property, with Douglas Harmon and Adam Spies of Eastdil Secured marketing the building. Peter Riguardi and Alexander Chudnoff of Jones Lang LaSalle are spearheading the search for potential new locations for Sotheby’s.

“We continue to examine our business needs and real estate options to see what best suits Sotheby’s,” Andrew Gully, spokesman at Sotheby’s, told The Commercial Observer, declining to comment on the rumored bid from Related.

A noteworthy development, speculation has been what would become of the site directly to the north, the 4th of the so called "four corners" towers, and the only one we haven't seen plans of some kind for. According to this release, Related also controls that site.

Great news!! Judging by how quickly the South Tower is moving along, I'd say this ones going to get foundations started pretty soon!

Not that fast, according to an article posted by NYguy, it will take them about 5 months just to move utilities pictured above.

Considering the demolition of part of the LIRR's MOE bldg in the SE corner of the yard/Gateway Tunnel box construction AND the NYC Notice's street address of "500 West 33rd st", does this mean the platform construction will start in the north side of the East rail Yard?

At the rate things seem to be going, at least three quarters of HY Phase I will be structurally finished--if not occupant-ready--in half the time that it's still taking WTC v2 to reach the same goal.
I don't quite know if what I've just said makes 100% sense......

But as monumental as it is to cover the tracks, there is nothing compared to the preparation and then finding the occupants for the WTC sites. There is just no comparison.

I hope I'm understanding your drift and clarifying what I said at the same time.
*Every single aspect* of HY Phase I just might be virtually finished superstructurally by the time WTC2 even *starts* above-grade work post-financing.

Remember, the south tower (Coach) is not being built over the platform.

Thank you for the reply.

Yes, I know the South/Coach Tower is being built over the High Line spur.

So based upon the NYC Notice's of "500 West 33rd Street" I'm assuming the platform construction will start from the north/33rd st side.

Is this correct?

Note that I'm not familiar with the block (block 702) and lot number (P/O Tax Lot 1) system of NYC property/real estate.

This is a great picture. As you can see on the right they have removed a few tracks that lead into the larger yard south of 11th ave. They have also put up a new fence between the trains and the future construction space.

I believe they are preparing to construct the tunnel box for the future new tunnel under the Hudson River.
