It will be interesting to see what another massive foundation in the area does to the water table. I know a geologist who claims that the water table downtown has already risen close to 2 ft because the same amount of water has to flow through a smaller space. Downtown Calgary is relatively unique because of all the raft slab foundations.

They might have to do some sort of network of large weeping tile or something if it keeps getting higher.

Yeah iirc they have their DP, and applied for their BP awhile back as well.

Can't wait to see this one get going. Most of the new towers have been south of Stephen Ave or around Eau-Claire since the last boom. It'll be nice to see something this big go up right in the core.

With this, Telus Sky, Manulife, and the new Downtown Library all confirmed on 7th ave with more to come, looks like the Ctrain will become the Joy-Train through downtown for us SSPers!

Spring2008: Yes, that's exactly what the core needs! 860'-900' would be even better, but 810' will be alright too.

I am excited to see Brookfield Place, Telus Sky and The Bow all from Stephen Ave!!!!!! Yes, I am that excited. Stephen Ave will have a true canyon effect then.

I'll be happy with just one 1000+ footer maybe another 900+ foot tower and then I won't ask for any more tall towers.

nope. Telus Sky and Brookfield Place will both be visible from stephen ave. They are going to TOWER over the street and will be one block closer than the bow. You can see already see the bow from the east end of stephen ave. Just walk on to stephen and picture where the buildings will go......its going to be quite the sight.

I've heard from different people in the construction industry that September is when they plan to start.

I believe that is the case. No BP has been released so far.

Sources in construction say that the tendering process had given September as a start time, and with an anchor tenant lined up I bet they're just chomping at the bit to get going.

Yeah I bet! That is too bad. They could have been UC for a month by now, since Cenovus signed on. But hey, no complaints... we're getting a new tallest, and one of the nicest new office towers to be built in Canada in decades, second only to The Bow... basically the two nicest office buildings built in Canada since Scotia Plaza.
