Cal we've had this discussion before but take it from me as someone who lives in Toronto, works in Toronto development and just spent a few weeks in mainland china, its not even close.
China is expecting roughly 300 million people to move from rural areas to cities in the next 10-15 years, that's the entire population of the US to move into cities. IT's literally almost incomprehensible how large that is.
The are LITERALLY 10s of thousands of highrises under construction all over china. It's mind boggling. No one can keep track of it outside of the Chinese government, and they aren't exactly known for their propensity to share information!
Also google maps in China is a joke. Check for yourself. It's very low res and difficult to understand what is going on. The only way to really appreciate what is going on is to go there and see it first person.
I highly recommend you, and anyone else who hasn't, try and see this while they can, because nothing like this urbanization will ever happen again in any of our lives.
