yeah there is an 8 storey limit on waterfront....apparently the city didn't care.

supposedly the old building is maintained as some sort of public use.

Wow, this is a pleasant surprise. I counted 24 flors, plus the pumping station itself. Do we know what the building will be used for? There are three different colors on the drawing, so I assume retail office and residential..? Regardless, it's beautiful!

Weird...... the floor count on the draft drawing and the picture of the proposal do not match. The draft drawing looks like it would be 24 floors above the pump house and the picture looks like its only 17 floors above the pump house.

I love the rendering and the look. I wish I could tell if the colour of the glazing is from the light in the rendering or if it is a copper or bronze colour glass. Either way it looks awesome and hope it makes it........again, another project that is likely dependent on the parkade to be built. Sometimes i think exceptions can be made to rules (Exchange height limit). This might be one of them.

They do, which is interesting because it would appear to suggest that this proposal was competing with the previous mixed use building on top of the parkade that was confirmed as being dead as of last month. I don't recall there being any mention in the media of competition over the parkade.

When you consider the needs of a 17? 24? storey building, the complexes across the street and the hospitality/entertainment users in the neighbourhood, I wonder whether that 4 or 5 level parkade will be big enough? I know no one likes the prospect of a monster parkade being built, but if one parkade can be built at a size big enough to relieve the neighbourhood's parking needs for decades, I'd rather see that as opposed to a small one that will fill up right away and require yet another parkade to be built in a few years' time.

The 2nd quote is from the blog 1ajs linked. Seems odd that so soon after the parkade was declared dead, it would be considered a key part of a major development.

Please don't screw this up city..... I suspect that location is either this building or a future surface parking lot at this point...
