Night market - Saturdays from 7-11pm on 106st north of Jasper.

http://www.jlsnightmarket.com

The JLS Night Market opens for its first season in the downtown core!

Being part of the downtown revitalization is exciting! The JLS Night Market is making creative use of the parking lot space in the downtown core. It is a public market and is open to every type of vendor including goods that are not exclusively homemade or home grown! It’s a great place to go relax, listen to music, eat great food and see unique goods that you wouldn’t traditionally see.

The goal is to have a night market that is a feast for the eyes, ears and mouths! All across Canada you can find night markets that boast hundreds of vendors and thousands and thousands of market patrons. All the right pieces are in place! We have leased a prime spot on 102 avenue and 106 street in the downtown core and we were voted in the top 5 Ideas for Edmonton!

The JLS Night Market will offer food trucks, bath and beauty products, handbags, scarves, goods from around the globe, local entertainment and broadcasting from Guerrilla Radio a new Edmonton radio station. JLS Night Market is still looking for vendors to fill niche spots such as food trucks, cultural items, unique clothing & goods and fresh produce & food.

The JLS Night Market can be found in the parking lot located at 102 Ave and 106. There is ample parking in the surrounding area and on the street. Opening day was on June 22, 2013 and the night market will run every Saturday from 7pm-11pm until September 28, 2013. For more information email: [email protected].

Dear Cococo, when it is that rare warm summer night, please try staying open after 8 PM. While enjoying a gelato on your patio, I counted about 6 vehicles...at least 2 full of children... stopping by, only to meet with closed doors. I'm sure they took their money elsewhere.

According to the website (which was linked) the company presenting the event is "Just A Little Somethin’ Inc"... so, that's probably it.

^Hmm must try. On a related note, I recently learned learned that green onion cakes don't exist outside of Edmonton, kinda blew my mind. We have a civic dish!

Depends on who makes them. The best GOCs were by the late lamented Mongolian Food Experience. But I somehow doubt they were invented in Edmonton.

I think you might find them called Cong You Bing, the Chinese term for them. However, traditional Cong You Bing appears to be more of a pancake than a biscuit as it is served here.

We enjoy the food at 3 Amigos more than Tres. And the price point is much less. My recall is that the space is small - wonder if they will have a takeout service as their mainstay given limited room for seating.
