Express Air has announced effective September 3 new scheduled service from YQR to YPA (Prince Albert). It will provide once weekly service on Tuesdays. Scheduled as follows:

Depart YQR: 0830 Arrive YPA: 0925
Depart YPA: 1645 Arrive YQR: 1740

Westjet Encore will begin twice daily service (once day on weekends) from to Saskatoon and Regina to Winnipeg beginning February 15 and January 15. Westjet Encore has also announced Encore service between both cities and Edmonton.

"WestJet Encore adds new non-stop routes to the network with flights between Winnipeg and Saskatoon, Winnipeg and Regina and between Vancouver and Kamloops, B.C. WestJet Encore frequency increases on routes between Calgary and Kamloops and routes between Edmonton and Saskatoon, Edmonton and Regina and Edmonton and Grande Prairie, Alta."

At this point, the YWG flights are only till the end of April according to WestJet's new feed. Hopefully they get extended past that.

Great for 1 day business meetings. Too bad none of WestJet's code share partners fly into YYG. In fact YYG less seems to have fewer U.S. connections than Regina?

Given they also fly in Saskatoon and Regina, all the YWG stop over does is add an extra stopover.

Yes but they are not a WestJet codeshare partner like American and as Casper says, Delta already has 2 flights per day form each of YQR and YXE to the same destination, namely MSP.

Also YQR and YXE have two daily flights to Denver all year round.

My point is that this will be helpful for connections, but not as helpful as one might think.

There won't be any - obvious - construction activities for some time. (Except for some airside stuff.)

Terminal expansion plans will be finalized during approximately 2016 for a ribbon-cutting in approximately 2021.
