I saw that they are doing test drilling at the Fortress site today. At least something tangible.

Dont know why nobodys taken/posted the pics yet, but the base of the ALT tower has now been built closer to Portage Avenue. I would've but i was transit-fanning the system this afternoon. Theres a condominium and stuff in the background too!

Count that as a neighborhood street shot.

I was going to say the crane at CentrePoint is now on the street. Went by last night. Should be finishing off the first 5 storey's at the southeast corner over the next little while. Then tower crane time!

District condos are now begining pre-sales for the 132 James location. Honestly didn't think it was gonna proceed with so many available units still available in the other James location.

They do have some smaller units this time. From $131,000.. I can see investors snapping up the smaller ones to rent out.

No clue. Maybe a month or two, pure speculation.

They're at about the second or third floor on the southeast corner at Portage and Donald. The rest of the site is up to the 5 floor podium height. Not sure how things are going around the Copp facade, just noticed on my drive by yesterday.

If things are done smart, the tower crane should be situated behind 4Play so it could also be used later for Glasshouse. Or better yet, erect two cranes on that whole site!

I was thinking that, they could use one crane. But I think the site is too large for one crane to reach from Portage and Donald all the way diagonally across to Ellice and Hargrave. If you remember MTS Centre had 4 cranes and both sites are of a similar size.

So I'm thinking two cranes for CentrePoint!

Only small bore drilling. Potential environmental testing; it might be a part of the due diligence for the property purchase. If that has not closed yet.

With Glass House moving to the south end of the property on Hargrave and Alt being set back from Portage the north-south travel range of potentinal tower crane would be significantly less that Portage-Ellice. I wonder if the possibility of using a single tower crane for both Alt and Glass House might have contributed to Glass House changing from the original plan that had it being built on top of the parkade close to north edge of the property.

Very true. I don't think they would move the tower just on the basis of the crane, but I could be wrong.

I was thinking for the parkade structure they would need to reach to Ellice. Or is that to be built using a crawler?

From the about section of the Gendis.ca website:

Dollarama also operates out of one retail property and Gendis plans on a renovation of the storefront in the summer of 2013 to add to the revitalization of downtown Winnipeg and Portage Avenue.

Not sure what is up with the Dollarama property on Portage but they have been working on the backside of the building for some time. I thought they may have been addressing something with the east wall of the MEC building.

Let's hope their budget is over a dollar. Perhaps they should also invest in addressing the loitering around their storefront.
