This newsletter from the Utah Heritage Foundation has information about an organizational meeting and tour for the Hub proposed for the old Zim building on
State St.

I had heard of the concept of a space which was a combination idea lab / incubator / community before in other cities but didn't realize the name Hub was specifically associated with this type of space.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this already, but construction the Ballet West building next to the Capitol Theater is beginning. The sidewalk is fenced off already, some machinery is onsite, that grassy area beside the old Arrow Press building is apparently being used as a staging area, etc.

I don't know when this popped up. It's not much to look at, but it does conceal the other artspace building and makes the area look a little less sketchy from the West Temple onramp.

Looks like just after five years or how ever long it's been since the Salt Palace add on the OR show is having to use three large tents again. Saw them putting up three big tents on the parking lot block on South Temple. We just can't seem to keep up with the growth and that could be a bad thing. It got me thinking about the CCH and just how much it's driving me nuts that we haven't really heard anything about it. Our leaders really need to get going on this. Time is money.

They did sign an extension last winter to stay through 2016. So while that is a good thing, I honestly don't see that they will stay her past that time, if there hasn't at least been the announcement of a CCH with attached convention/expo space being built.

I'd love to see something like the Fairmont Hotel in Salt Lake City. It would look good a block away from 99 West.

I do want more buildings to go up on the east side of State Street further down from 136 East South Temple. I want the capital to appear like the middle of downtown. Technically it is, but you wouldn't guess looking at it from the south because of there only being one tall tower in the east.

Your post is a little confusing. It took me a few times before I realized that your link was actually related. So, you are referring to development #39 from the link. That would be a cool building to have in our skyline.

Also, it took me a while to realize what you were talking about in the other paragraph. When you say capital, do you mean the City & County Building or the State Capital? Neither of them are "technically" in the center of downtown.

After seeing the list of SLC highrises on Emporis, I was curious as to when they were all built and to find any trends. This is what I found. SLC has been in building cycles with times when there were a lot of buildings built and times when not much was built. SLC had a highrise building boom from the late 1970's to mid 1980's.
