Awesome! At least they're a blues act. Our blues fest this year is headlined by Collective Soul, Los Lonely Boys (for the second time) and Great Big Sea (Newfie folk music! Seriously!) Strangely, it's the most successful blues fest in several years so far.

Tomato paste is ok, but when you get a big chunk of tomato, the sweetness/juiciness is a startling contrast to the thick, creamy, spicy flavour of the chili. It's like eating a hamburger and hitting a pocket of water inside, and having the water fill your mouth. It's terrible.

I had (another) flat tire yesterday. A nail was visibly seen in the tire treads. The tire place torqued the lug nuts too tight and I couldn't get them off so I called roadside service. The CSR was nice, but while trying to schedule me her system crashed and she had to get a supervisor. After about 20 minutes she gave me the name of a company that would show up in less than an hour to change my tire. An hour and a quarter passed and I gave them a call and the lady I spoke with said the driver would arrive at my location within 15 to 20 more minutes. It took more like 45 to 50 additional minutes, but I did the work of removing the spare for the driver.

Well, when he finally showed up it started to pour (if he had arrived within the hour there wouldn't have been a drop). Anyway, things began to go downhill. He couldn't find his four-way to remove the lugs and needed to use the one that came with my car. Then his jack was broken and I had to dig through all of the shit in my trunk to find my jack - this NEVER happened with other flat tires. Oh, and it was still pouring and we were both drenched.

It was over, I thought, after I put my tire in the trunk and realized that the rain had shorted out my remote control. Every once in a while the I can't close the tailgate glass without resetting the latch by pressing the latch release on the remote. There is no other latch release/reset on the vehicle. Lucky! for me this was one of those rare times when I needed to reset the latch, but the remote was dead. Dejected and needing to meet up for dinner with coworkers who were texting me, I found a piece of string and set out on my mission. Upon pulling out of the driveway I realized that one of my headlight bulbs had blown. "ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?!?!?!?"

I still made it to dinner, although I was an hour late

My wife and I spent last weekend in Louisville. On our drive from the motel to downtown I think we counted 8 adult bookstores. My thought was that they sure do read a lot in Kentucky!

It's for the people traveling up north from the very conservative states further south. Alabama doesn't even have a lottery, strip clubs, casinos (anymore) and I doubt very much that there are other "adult businesses."

I remember seeing all of those "Adult Bookstore" signs as a child visiting my grandparents. But in the age of the internet, I suspect adult toys, illegal sex acts, and drugs are the main draw.

I was always amazed at this, right in the middle of the Bible Belt. The cognitive dissonance just blows the mind.

All those "bookstores" that once filled the Quad City downtowns closed a while back. There must be less computers in Kentucky.
