Looks like something is being built on Regent where that old house was torn down a couple weeks ago. I assume it's an apartment building.

There is a write up in the business section today about a possible 800 jobs brought to town. All online education related. Time will tell but I am a little excited.

There was just the pit last time I was by. Has construction started?

Why would the province step in? Since they know it's a flood zone, they can just say "no taxpayer compensation for you if it floods, you were warned" and be done with it. Beyond that, why does the province care?

Hard to tell since the lot is quite a bit higher than the road but it looked like they were putting in forms for the foundation.

There was flooding in Burts corner a couple or years ago, The province came in and said heres some money but if you take the money you cant rebuild here.

Yeah, that's flood compensation. When the province does that, they don't allow people to use provincial money to rebuild in a flood zone because it's a waste of money.

There's no provincial money here, Picaroons is buying the land from the city and knows it's in a flood zone already. If it floods, the province isn't going to offer up any compensation, so there's no need for them to care right now.

I stopped into the Bi-Way to pick-up some socks then down the street to Consumers Distributing to order a new toaster-oven

In hindsight, what a strange store that was.

You can always go to Woolco, it's much better. Get some groceries at Dominion while you're at it.

I'm thinking of going to the movies. Anyone know what's playing at the Nashwaksis theaters or the Prospect street ones?

Of course before that, I'm gonna go to the downtown Zellers and ride the escalators, just because.

My mother informed me back in the day the mothers would leave there infants in the strollers outside in front of the old Zellers store. Blew my mind.

See the city wants to waste 250,000.00$ of our money to add a few more swimming days to our outdoor pools
