Yep, good riddance to that church. They were so horrible that during Pride they had security guards surrounding the property, refusing to let people sit on the brick wall along Peachtree - while the Methodists across the street were passing out water with a smile.

Well, Christ was always about hate. Oh, wait, maybe that was somebody else. Funny that that lot and the old Shriners lot on 4th might both get developed in the next year. Yay!

As somebody who works in zoning I assure you that it's not that bad in the City of Atlanta. There are no parking minimums in Downtown, most of Midtown, or most of the commercial core of Buckhead. In fact, these areas have parking caps. There's also a cap along the BeltLine.

Outside of these areas there are on-site parking minimums, but the residntial requirement is less than one space per unit.

Most parking in Atlanta proper is required by financiers and tenants, NOT the City.

Terminus, a question. What if anything can the city do about Beltline parking? Problem is, some of adjacent private parking places (for example, Virginia Hill condos) are being used by nonresidents, and it's going to lead to some pretty nasty towing scenes. I feel sorry for people who drive in to walk the Beltline and there are no good parking options for them. Of course, they should have planned ahead and taken Marta, walk or bike in. Maybe the Beltline people or city could advise tourists of parking options so that the good residents of Virginia Hill don't have to constantly monitor their meager spaces.

On an unrelated note, is the Clermont rehab on schedule to be completed next year? I understood they planned to start on it this autumn. Is funding in place? I understand Blondie is some sort of spokesperson?

seriously, i'd find it extremely difficult to feel sorry for someone who drives in to utilize the beltline and can't find parking.

one of the guiding principles of the beltline is to create multi mode transit connectivity within the study area (the 22 mile loop of right of way and 2-3 miles in either direction of the corridor). the automobile is probably a secondary or tertiary consideration for the for most of the beltline, with the obvious exception of where right of way intersects with existing streets (i.e. 10th and Monroe).

the residential and commercial developments in the beltline study area will be best served by implement parking policies and infrastructure that protects their residents, tenants, and visitors.

Well hopefully we'll get a nice building, some friendly new residents, and some retail. Things that actually contribute to the vibrancy of midtown, instead of the former which opposed neighborhood values.

That's great!
I've seen this rendering in the connector makeover proposals but I had no idea any part of it was actually moving forward. Anything would be an improvement although I'm not sure its evocative of the Sydney Harbor bridge.

207 13 Street
New construction of a high-rise residential project. This application was reviewed previously by the DRC in May 2008 and received a conditional SAP for grading and site work. The building elevations were still being finalized at that time. The applicant proposes an additional 1,100 SF of ground floor retail and will present a new design to screen the parking deck.
Corner of Peachtree and 5th Street
New construction of a mid-rise residential project. The applicant is submitting the proposed concept and massing study for preliminary review and feedback by the DRC. A more developed set of plans will be submitted subsequent to the July meeting for formal review and approval.

We should have more information on these proposals tomorrow.

The thing that pisses me off still, is what they did to the 17th st bridge, they went cheap and look what we got. The first rendering was very grand.

^Wow. I wasn't expecting something quite this large/tall there.

Will be interesting to see what their intentions are for screening the parking podium, as was mentioned previously.

Simple metal trellises with weeping fig or similar could do wonders for so many parking decks around town...

Well according the DRC review agenda, the parking deck area has been redesigned with retail and a better screened deck so perhaps we will soon see renderings of a more camouflaged deck. Lets hope this is not the new design.
