It is technically a stand alone store. It won't be like the normal superstore locations that are part of the grocery store it has its own entrances etc however connected entrances with the grocery store. It takes up a large retail portion of the Lonsdale face of the building. If you take a drive by there are Joe Fresh signs up indicating.

The downtown Joe Fresh store always seems to be busy whenever I've walked by and/or gone in.

This is an image from the North Shore news. It's the St. Paul's Indian Church which is being restored by the St. Paul's Preservation Trust. While not exactly a high-rise, it's a longtime North Shore landmark that has up until now been under tarps. This is the oldest church in the Lower Mainland, built in 1884. The spires have been under plastic wrap for about 20 years. They have been rebuilt and re-clad. The towers have been refinished to match the original colour scheme. The cost of the work was generously donated by the Aquilini family. In addition the crosses were totally refurbished at no cost by Pattison Sign co. The work was managed by Syncra Construction and performed by Nu-Tech Roofing.

Truth be told, I meant why can't we get this kind of better design on regular market projects. I like the way the curved lines are evocative of art deco, yet the design is quite contemporary. Almost looks like a cruise ship (which coincidentally have a lot in common with retirement homes )

There's that one called Dockside in Coal Harbour that is similar.
But nowadays, the UDP would make you chop off a corner so that a view can be preserved.

The Loblaws City Market opened on 17th and Lonsdale. It is freaking fantastic. Not what you expect for little old Lonsdale. I'd say someone sees huge potential in what North Vancouver is becoming. Easily as nice as any Whole Foods. I love the little sections in the store, a deli that looks like a deli, a really impressive cheese selection (they had decent aged red lester ! hard to find), nice little bakery section, a coffee shop with a fantastic view.
Apparently the store is based on a one off model store in Toronto.

The only negative comment I'd have is the exterior does not hint at what is inside.

Definitely going to walk the extra distance and give them my business.

I'm going to echo the sentiments about the Loblaws. The product selection and pricing are pretty standard fare for any Loblaws owned store, but the setting is hard to top. It's going to draw people just for the experience.

As for the Onni site, I'd say it's 90% going to be Whole Foods. When I was still working there, it was strongly rumored that a lease was going to be signed somewhere in North Van in the very near future.
