Enough complaining about what seems to be quite an efficient use of $80k in grant money. This isn't going to bring some huge efficiency boost to MARTA or convince the state to stop fucking with their budget, but it would be a welcome face lift.

Right, and the improvements alone might even boost ridership. Especially if they open a patio restaurant. It's all about creating the illusion of safety for some people. (Not me of course as I am posting this from the 110 bus line )

Some clarification - the $80K is just for coming up with the plans. As with many Atlanta projects, even though a plan exists there is currently no money to actually implement the project.

They finished installing energy-efficient bulbs on the entire exterior of the building.

Excellent photos! It's really exciting as this project comes close to fruition.

Any rumors as to when they might start making the first test runs?

A few notes

While running the Peachtree Roadrace today, I noticed that there is a VERY new sign for what appears to be a new Symphony Hall design on the fence of the old Weiland development...I don't have a picture for this...

Also...driving down 16th on the Atlantic Station side, site work is in FULL swing for the new apartment project on 16th and Mecaslin.

I haven't heard anything recently about a new symphony hall, and I would be shocked if it were proposed for the Weiland site. But how exciting would that be. Probably the best location for it in the city!

So I'm confused...just because I'm curious about any infill projects in Atlanta...I was in Google Streetview at this intersection, and 3 out of 4 corners are already built on, and the 4th is a park. Are they building on the park?

They are building on the corner where the baseball diamond was located.

Mystery at former Agatha's and lot next to The Indigo

What appears to be pre-demo activity at the southeast corner of 4th and P'tree is underway. Anybody know what's up?

Construction is scheduled to be completed on the streetcar by 1/31/14. Then service is expected to start sometime in April. So I would image that in the 2 -3 month period is when they will start doing test runs, training drivers, etc.

Cool. I walked part of the route the other day and was trying to imagine how it will look when the cars are actually zipping along.

Any word on who will be operating the line? I had assumed it would be MARTA but have been told they won't be doing it.

I thought they were just repairing the sidewalk and planting new trees over there... but clearly more is going on. It's a great corner lot on the south end of the Midtown Mile...

The Haynes House

The Broadstone project on P'tree near P'tree Battle now has a name: The Haynes House. Foundation work seems to be underway.
Was curious about the name Haynes House so, did a little digging. The name may refer to a Frank Lloyd Wright house build for insurance co president in Ft Wayne, IN in 1951.
The Wright premise was to create an smaller, modest priced organic structure maintaining FLW's Usonian sense of room, comfort and timelessness.
If that's the idea behind The Haynes House apartments on P'tree, looking forward to see it grow.

PCM looks really good! Bohemian House looks good (and large) from O4W park, but otherwise bla. I feel sorry for residents facing north from AMLI O4W bc it looks like AMLI's new garage is going to be a big blank concrete wall (I guess better than a noisy open garage?). Walton Westside looks like it's going to be cheap as hell, but I continue to be impressed by Elan going up nearby. Highest quality construction (materials and process), best overall design, best integration into infill site, etc etc.

We had dinner on Dresden the other night and there are two apartment buildings underway.

One is Hines' @1377 and the other is one of Wood Partners' Alta developments. Hard to tell what the finished product will be but the renderings look pretty good.

That has become an active corridor over there.
