You might just get your wish. Once a new "trend" (or whatever you may wish to call it) is set and established, others often follow, copycat style. I'd like to see more alleys lit up too, as well as better lighting in other areas of the city.

I'm talking more about how there's cru units facing the alley and its treated more like a street then an alley. I don't really care for those lanterns the way they are shown

I think so too. I had no idea that the frontage of the office on Georgia also included a portal to the alley between the whole complex. Very cool!

I would suggest they are opaque to minimise lightspill into the adjacent offices. They'd still provide the main purpose they were designed for - shining light downwards onto the alleyway below (as opposed to sideways and into offices)

I was about to step out but when I looked out the window, I noticed they are finally installing the crane on the residential portion of Telus Garden.

I don't have all day to watch them assemble it (I'm sure most people in this forum have seen this process happen many times) so here is a couple of shots anyways.

Here's the proposed Telus building in Calgary, designed by the Bjarke Ingels Group. Seems like Calgary is getting a more cutting edge design than Vancouver.

I think the Calgary version is snazzier than Vancouver's. Additionally, it's location, smack downtown next to The Bow, has a great impact as well.

We are getting our own pretty cool BIG tower, great to see Calgary is getting one as well. Would be awesome to see a building like that at 722' tall here in Vancouver though. I've always thought Shangri-La was 'meh' at best.

The Telus garden's tower is definitely not as nice as Calgary's but is it still going to be one tall building. Can't wait to the the final constructed building.

It's a crazy-beautiful building. More symmetrical than our BIG project which has a dramatic, off-kiltre, gravity-defying charm. Our BIG project also greatly benefits from its placement along the bridge and the effect it creates there.

They're both great, and yes, definitely beat out Telus Garden, which still has its own charms.
