An example : We had a grade separated , free-flow interchange at 59 and the Perimeter. Then the province decided to complete the ring around the city and now we don't have a grade-separated , free-flow interchange at 59 and the Perimeter. How many years has it been ?

I agree with you partially, regarding that planners know what they're doing and the politicians get in the way. I'm just happy they're taking everything into account in the area before making a decision.
MIT seems to have they're heads on straight these days. CoW not so much. I know Sammy's all over the place and there's a lot of consultant work these days.
Look at Molson Ave. The City installed a roundabout at Grassie, designed for single lane traffic. No option to make it larger. Then they're "twinning" Molson, but only up to Concordia. They said there isn't enough traffic flow to ever twin the stretch from Concordia to Grassie. Ultimate build-out is single lane traffic. But in the next breath they're talking about the Schreimer's redevelopment just north of Grassie and how huge it's going to be and all the people that will move in there. Residential towers and expanding the strip mall. Ummmm, okayy. So tons of people moving in just down the street warrants Molson NEVER be twinned? They used the word never. I know this is all word of mouth, but's that what I've been told.
As we've said before, planners get a bad rap. Some deserve it, some don't. So that's why I made the comment that they're actually planning stuff. I'm not really up for getting into that debate. Glad to see the AT overpass on the horizon. I'd use it regularly.
