Smile Loan it and they will build

Atl Business Chronicle reports that Oliver Mac. has secured a $167m loan allowing them to speed up and complete Buckhead Village (Ave. is personal fave)by Fall '14. Biggest commercial loan to date outside of NYC. Bodes well for new as well as frozen commercial projects in Atl pipeline.

Have you seen the rents per sq ft on those streets? I agree that retail is changing, but I think your view is misguided. There will always be something about the experience, especially with high-end retail, of browsing and doing it in person.

I'm not sure, but I hope the tower across from the High gets built. I think it was called Museum Tower. I LOVED that building.

I heard a rumor (that I hope isnt true) that Wieland is planning a high end townhome development there... Fingers crossed something like that doesnt get built! Although I see the logic in developing high end homes adjacent to Ansley Park, the fact that it is across from the high museum IMO necessitates a more public component (retail, gallery space, etc.) along that streetfront at least. This part of town has so much potential, let's hope it doesnt get squandered.

On the Drawing Board: MARTA Transit Station Enhancement Plans

Several Midtown MARTA stations could soon receive a much-needed overhaul.

Midtown Alliance yesterday released some conceptual renderings for the Arts Center, Midtown, and North Avenue MARTA stations that are currently being eyed for an redesign.

Earlier this year, the civic organization secured an $80,000 grant from the Atlanta Regional Commission to study possible efforts "to enhance the functional, operational and aesthetic aspects on the exterior of each station" since the stations are in a "lackluster" condition. The Alliance chose the local architecture firm Smith Dalia to conduct the study.

The proposed features include new amenities such as a bike wall and an outdoor café. In addition, the new enhancements are more colorful and contain more green space, including some delightful mossy plants growing along the stairs. That's a major improvement to the current conditions at the stations, which range in design between ho-hum and outright forgettable.

Planning for the station is already underway could be completed by mid-November. Once finished, the final proposal will be open for public comment and approval.

Ending loitering is half the battle. It's not like Dancing Goats would want to open a cafe at the North Ave MARTA. Place is such a dump. And such a terrible "welcome" for visitors arriving via Hartsfield. But, don't worry, all skateboarders are stopped in case anyone felt threatened by that!

You're correct... That WAS the plan a few years ago. For some reason, I dont think the sale (and obviously the hotel project) ever materialized.

I heard the rumor from a friend that lives in Ansley Park behind the lot to be developed. I guess if anyone has an inside scoop, its probably him... Although until its built, anything can change. I'm hoping things begin to pick up and maybe someone buys him out for something much grander. We will just have to wait and see.
