Here are some pics from the Tribune Building / Neumont University renovation/repurposing/whateverthehell. Apologies in advance for a cheap phone and cheaper skillz.

Rendering; they're still doing construction on the facade at street level, and with the "SHAME ON NEUMONT UNIVERSITY" protesters outside it was difficult to get a decent pic. Or even an indecent one.

The first floor lobby; much more open than it used to be, with a stairwell in the center that goes down to some basement classrooms, meeting rooms and nooks and crannies where students can "hang out."

A basement hallway. Which really isn't that exciting, unless you used to traverse those basements on a regular basis. One of the cooler things about some of the old downtown buildings is all of the tunnels connecting them with the neighbors, underground utilities, the old coal delivery systems, etc... I had hoped that with the redesign, they'd expose some of the brick arches that are underground under the Tribune Building, but they may not have been able to structurally or otherwise.
Some boilers that are now a display piece behind glass. Cool, for those of you in the boiler fetish community. You know who you are. Sick monkeys.

As a teacher of children and now adults, I was salivating over the classrooms. Sure, this doesn't look like much, but where Neumont University is very technology centered (all four of their BS degrees are related to technology/computers) the classrooms are all wired and wirelessed to the hilt. Most of the meeting rooms and classrooms have large screen TVs and monitors mounted on the walls, and the classrooms range from about ten seats to fifty. I'd love to teach there. I mean, I don't have any skills. But I'd love to use the facility.

From the basement, looking up through the lobby/atrium/mezzaninosphere.

A poster that I freaking love...it reminds me of all of the stories that I doodled and wrote and told and lied about when I worked there. Ahhhh, the good times.
