Not to get too technical here but the Chase tower you speak of in Indianapolis is only 48 floors and 700ft to the roof. The 830 ft height is to the tip of the antennas. The Bow and suncor west are both taller.
Antennas do not count in building height.

Remember guys, the US is a more rural country than Canada (hence the power of the Republican Party, even though demographics are killing them now)

Anyways, your average US city serves a far greater hinterland than does your average Canadian City. Therefore it is likely they will have bigger corporations in far smaller cities with a far greater reach, and of course a greater need for office space.

Yup. In general, American skylines are made up of a few really tall nice office skyscrapers, surrounded by a few low/mid rise and emptyness. Whereas a lot of Canadian cities are made up of residential highrise density that is similar height to their office highrises.

Everything is relative. There are Canadian skylines that are truer to the definition of 'squat' -- such as Halifax, St. John's, Victoria, Saskatoon, Regina...

(Even Vancouver gets criticised for looking too bonsai.)

I think Montreal looks fucking fabulous. People need to stop being such size queens when it comes to building aesthetics.

^ ya Montreal needs to get a building boom going on (which I think it is). Some nice new modern skyscrapers mixed with Montreal's older ones and churches will "finish" it's skyline..It would be the most eclectic and original in Canada.

It already is actually.

Yup there is a building boom going on in downtown and its periphery neighbourhoods. Now, many on these boards argue that it's actually the biggest one in the city's history, something that I sincerely doubt though.

In any case, the skyline is poised to get much bigger with dozens of residential, institutional and commercial projects in the pipes, including at least 20 towers of 100m or more in height.
