There have been plans for a regional shopping center near Hank Aaron stadium for years. At one point, Bass Pro Shops and Target were going to be among the anchors.

I'm hearing that's what they are talking about when they talk of this big $100 million retail development... I'm hearing of a Costco. I hope its good and different!

The signage at the site indicates the development would be approximately 600k square feet in size. I'm thinking Dicks' Sporting Goods, Kohl's and Target will join the aforementioned Costco warehouse.

The layout, two landscaped strip malls facing a parkway, will probably be similar to The Promenade D'Iberville and TigerTown in Opelika.

An even wilder plan would be a freestanding Costco store on one side and a Macy's-anchored lifestyle center across the connecting boulevard.

Mobile may be getting a Dunken Donut in late 2013 , I think they should open at the old KK location on government or on Royal street downtown.

This article has nothing to do with Mobile but this would be a great idea for the city. Look at what they are doing in Birmingham ! Can you guys imagine the Bay Way looking like this !!! ??

Those lights would look even better in the tunnel. Knowing most people in Mobile though, they would probably hate it and blame tunnel accidents on it.

It would look pretty cool. I like Port of Bama's idea, though. If the entire Bayway were lit up in that way, it would become instantly famous.

I was speaking with some Delta employees at the Mobile airport and was told that Delta HQ informed them MOB will be receiving much more mainline aircraft in the near future. I think this will coincide with the addition of Boeing 717 aircraft later this summer.

Good news for the business travelers out of Mobile. I know I'm looking forward to not having to move my schedule to coincide with the 1 or 2 mainline flights per day to Atlanta to avoid those damnable CRJs.

Side note: The Downtown Mobile Alliance said that over 20 acres will be gained by this move. It certainly would be nice to enlarge Ft Conde Village

I doubt that this will speed traffic up coming out of the tunnel, trucks will still be at 40-45 MPH. However coming in might be better with the better angle. Also coming from Water St to east I-10 would be a lot easier to merge! That would be nice.

Are you talking about the maritime museum? How did you know the museum will not have any aquariums?

You know... I really wonder how many times Carnival is going to make easy use of our port facilities before other corporations realize how reliable and capable we are....

Carnival's mishaps are turning out to be of the best advertisements. Nothing says a successful cruise port like a welcoming city with hotels and restaurants willing to bend hours just to provide a welcoming environment to less than pleased passengers.

Mobile's cruise time will come. I'm sure the city's cooperation with Carnival has not gone unnoticed.

I was thinking the same thing, I was also thinking that the RSA should invest in an Alabama cruise line we have the infrastructure and skilled work force to build one. Norwegian would be a good look for the city.

Anyone have any updates/news on the 98 bypass? It seems to have come to a halt. You can see on google earth that the east side is finished from I-65 to Schillinger (it's being called Industrial Parkway). The west side looks to be mostly ready for asphalt from Mississippi to just east of Glenwood Rd. Then there's the gap in the middle that looks like no progress has been made at all. I've followed this project for about 10 years..... I guess it'll take another 10 to finish it.

You know I've been wondering the same thing. It is taking for ever. I don't know if the funding to complete is still there. I might call ALDOT this week if have time.

According to some of the older transportation plans for Mobile County, there have been plans for multiple limited access expressways and parkways connecting what would become I-10 and I-65 for nearly 50 years.

Saraland breaks ground on ATRIP project, to include retail space, new Infirmary campus

System CEO Mark Nix said the existing Northside Clinic on Cleveland Road in Saraland, and its five doctors, will eventually be moved to its new “major medical facility,” which will also include office space for additional primary care physicians and specialists. There will also be what Nix called a “super urgent care” facility with expanded hours and services for minor emergencies.

I noticed a lot of activity as of lately in the former Atlantis building do you guys have any idea as of what is going on? If they are going to reopen it into another night club I hope it will be marketed as a downtown " Crooked Martini" type of lounge.
