I also was shocked how cheap it was, $90 including tax for a round trip with prime times. It's much cheaper than driving.

I'm looking forward to seeing the result of such large-scale integration of Office and Residential in Southcore. With Telus, PWC, Waterpark Place, and the CI offices at the base of MLS, the area whould see a good amount of foot traffic during the day. I hope some more night-time entertainment options open up to compliment the ACC and extend the liveliness of the area into the evening.

Edit: While bland, I don't think anyone can dispute the quality of half the buildings in that frame. Some of the nicest surprises in the past few years have been Telus, ICE, and now the Delta Tower.

The potentially most interesting thing about that skyline, the crowns on the top of Ice, are yet to come.

Wow - Delta and Ice are making a huge difference from that vantage point. They are interesting enough I would no longer call that view bland. Homogeneous for sure, but it's hard to escape that given the ages of all the buildings there. The offices - while kinda boring - are all of excellent quality too.

The second ICE Tower being some 10 floors taller than the current tallest in Southcore will give this picture a more dramatic edge once it has been topped off, as the first tower has.

The two ICE towers will then give the picture a monumental focal point, as will the Southcore Delta, and the blandness will therefore be minimalized.

Absolutely amazing that none of this existed 10 years ago. What a boom.

They could have done more wit the urban realm but it sure beats the parking lots that were there.

Agree, looks like Canada will finally get that metropolis we've always longed for. That said, Calgary is very impressive as well; we'll likely see similar things out of that city in the years to come. Calgary at 2 million, Calgary at 3 million? It could end up having the best skyline west of Chicago.

A lot of the criticism stems from the fact that rarely does a city get a huge blank canvas to work with. The huge expanse allowed for some very interesting things to be contemplated, but little consideration was given to the opportunity that presented itself.

That said, it's a vast improvement over what was there and looks like it will be far more successful than City Place.

It's already pretty close to having the best skyline west of Chicago. The only contenders at or above Calgary's benchmark are Vancouver, Seattle, San Fran, and LA. St. Louis is pretty cool too, but not an impressive skyline.

No I didn't. Dallas' skyline looks cool at night, but that's about it. Also, while Minneapolis' skyline is very nice, it's not on par with the size or density of Calgary's. Nor is Houston, regardless of its height.

EDIT: Hmmmm, upon further examination, Houston's could be added to my previous list. But I still don't think Dallas' skyline is very nice during the day, nor dense enough.
