Hey fellas, our old buddy Chad Emerson is heading to Huntsville. Now we can get a new development director.
But he can help Huntsville from where it is now.

So we know he has done great things in Mgm what was the reason for leaving?
Looking for different challenges, problems, more money?

The Montgomery Advertiser has an article that should shed some light on the matter, but I'm not in front of my computer to provide the correct link.

On another note why is the outer loop/I-85 interchange ramps etc the tallest in the south or so it seems. It looks like a ride at Six Flags!
Can see why aldont is low on cash.

The political rumor is that Todd Strange will not run for another term as mayor. This could explain why Jeff and Chad are leaving

He's headstrong on his ideas and doesn't seem to handle different views very well (ask OCA REP or thoraudio).
He's an enemy of building nearly anything over six stories, which should work fairly well with Huntsville's decision to impose a height restriction in certain areas of downtown.
One person who won't be crying over his departure is David Bronner of the RSA.

well he won't be in a position of authority or decision making on a grand scale.
Input, recommendations, raising money for projects yes.

Yeah, he's good at that. Other than that, he's a 'scraper hater.

But like you said, he won't be as influential as a city official.

Best of luck to the people of Huntsville. If there was a more pompous know-it-all in Montgomery City Government, I do not believe I had the pleasure of knowing them. Good riddance, indeed!

I think part of that is because I-85 is on the ground level, so every ramp has to go over the interstate. They also have to work the ramps over the little side roads that go alongside the interstate right there as well. Also looks like they may be leaving room in the (unlikely) event the outer loop does go north to Wetumpka at some point down the road.

BTW, if you're interested, you can get some pretty cool views of that the interchange construction via Google Maps. You just have to zoom in really close.

really? You've seen ramps in Atlanta and even Birmingham that cross other interstates right? Unless they are moving ten story buildings or flying planes under them it appears to be just so they can look grandiose. Truck traffic will love the climb.

LOL. My brother from Atlanta calls that intersection "mini spaghetti junction" because of the flyover height. And Scoot71 you're right. It's designed that way because ALDOT has plans to eventually extend the loop north to near Wetumpka and over to Prattville then south to near the airport. Should be completed by the time we're DEAD!!

There are two things that are sad about that... The fact that the loop will likely be extended north and that we haven't been informed or approached about it, and the fact that it would take even that long to be constructed...

Really, there is no ALDOT bashing taking place; the state's tax structure is just entirely inconducive to funding an adequate transportation system.

Just the route from I-85 to I-65 will not be completed before we are DEAD. I was told many years ago by an official with ALDOT that the section from Troy highway to I-65 was the most needed, but Folmar was pushing the east side to be constructed first. Hope to see it finished in my lifetime but I'm afraid it's wishful thinking.
