I might have missed it, but what is going on at the old Canadian Tire site along Kingsway? I didn't know they have closed down (probably some time ago already).

I drove by it a few weeks ago and the board on there said something about a rezoning application: 3 condo buildings (14-15 fl max) with retail space at ground level.

I love this project. I love how it takes the angle of the streets and there's no stupid setbacks or little parketts stuck in. Nice solid looking building. Very welcome change from the ubiquitous tower/podium

What's going on beside it at 225 kingsway?

Definitely a huge improvement and I think the scale fits the street well. 4-6 stories works for 4th Ave, while 6-10 works for Broadway/10th that far west (with much taller nearer to Cambie).

Here's a model pic of the funky Audi dealership building being built next to the Ferrari dealership on Burrard - the angled curved wall you see now will eventually be hidden behind a wall and a glazed facade (a shame, really):

OD - agreed, when I first saw the angled concrete facade I thought it was neat that they would be a bit bold with the massing.

Of course, in the end it will just be a standard square box structure complete with mechanical penthouse sticking out on the roof.

FYI there is an open house today for the 333 East 11. Ave (formerly 275 Kingsway) Tireland site in Mount Pleasant.

Date: Tuesday, June 25, 2013
