That's just part of being a new team. Our football team didn't exist a few years ago, and large schools rarely travel to lightweights. We're glad to visit some of the more legendary cathedrals of college football in the meantime, and we're grateful to have a football program at all.

Jake Muasau impressed the coaches at rookie tryouts and was signed shortly after. Now the Georgia State product is practicing at middle linebacker for the first time.

Four players in the NFL. Not bad for a 3-year-old football program.

I think there will be pedestrian access from 10th street to a restaurant/bar. There's a new double-door entrance (that used to be an emergency exit). Previously the bar (Mojito's) had an entrance up from the parking turnaround; my understanding is that the Hyatt's new bar/restaurant will be directly accessible from 10th street.

As for the sidewalk issue, I highly encourage everyone to contact the city (the office of planning, your city council person, etc) and PEDS about it. PEDS even has an online sidewalk hazard reporting system you can use.

Can you please discuss GSU football team somewhere else? No need to dwell on this topic.

Also, we stand to make closer to a million per body bag game, and occasionally teams like ours win (ie,. Middle Tennessee beating Georgia Tech last season, ULM beating Auburn last season, Western Kentucky beat Kentucky last season, all three of those were in Sun Belt last season).
Finally, GSU plays Air Force at home next season, and we should get a lot more big teams at home in the future.

Even better, That's awesome! I went to FSU, but I also root for GSU. I live downtown and want to support them, definitely a fan also!

I hate these comments "well that's not related to construction so technically it doesnt belong here". A powerhouse football team will draw increase revenues that will fund other things, construction related. Such as new softball fields or stadiums for other sports. They may also want their own stadium at some point when they reach the point where they're selling out games.
You know what doesn't pertain to construction, your post about another post. If you feel inclined tell a mod who will clean it up, but by your definition you're cluttering up the board yourself with posts that literally contain no information. Pot meet kettle.

Yeah, I didn't really notice anything yesterday as well. Sure they are breaking up the earth behind the starbucks, but I assumed that was for the 100 6th Street garage. It has been said that there will be a bridge from Seventh to connect to the existing viewpoint garage, so maybe the "ground breaking" was merely prep work for this connection?

New Clothing Retailer to join 77 12th

http://www.tonetoatl.com/2013/06/points-to-ponder.html

Quote from article: "RAW Denim is moving from East Andrews to the Midtown Mile at 77th & 12th. Given the pending opening of (ROC) and the failures of Thread House, Universal Gear and DrewLewis, are RAW Denim and owner Emily Lipman making the right move? Can midtown support existing and upcoming retail or are the upcoming openings ill-advised?"

Frankster - Drew Lewis closed because the owners moved to Tokyo. They were successful enough to have a branch in Chattanooga and closed both when they moved to Japan.

Wow. They never seemed "successful". Just seemed like they had money to begin with. Maybe the Chattanooga store was more successful.

I hope the new denim store isn't plagued by break ins. Is it really that hard to prevent people from breaking in to denim stores?

I love to see more retail come to Midtown, but why is it so difficult for us to attract a reasonably priced clothing store? It doesn't have to be a boring name-brand store, but just something where I can pick up some clothes that aren't insanely expensive without have to drive over to Atlantic Station.

Ponce City Market Fly Through

Here's the link to a fly through of Ponce City Market that was posted a few days ago. I must say I can't wait til this development opens. The interior is simply incredible. Nothing like this exist anywhere in Atlanta. Truly a great addition to the city.

That was just a quote from the article, not my opinion.

I saw one of the partners (Seth?) for a while at Cucina Asellina, even months after DL closed. Speaking of Japan, I bought a Uniqlo corduroy jacket there once...it was the only Uniqlo on the rack, maybe the only Uniqlo in the entire metro! There's a brand that doesn't seem to be doing as well in America as they hoped, either.

It was a dismal failure. It was tiny (1,000 or 1,500 SF) and it was open for maybe a month or a few at most. Chattanooga was a horrible market for them (reasonably...a small market that can't even get a lot of middle market nationals let alone an upper mid-market Atlanta boutique [that city is not friendly towards Atlanta businesses or the city in general])...they were planning Atlantic Station pop-up and then ~5 year store thereafter around the same time, and never even pursued (they could not pay freight at basically any of their locations, especially Chattanooga, for the life of them due to poor sales)...I was a shopper and happened to like their selection and store, but they did not do well anywhere. It was an attempt on the part of LL (Jamestown in both Midtown and Chattanooga) and tenant. The relationship did not work out well.

It was after Katrina. Denim's great, but it will be helpful to themselves from a "shrinkage" and break-in standpoint if they don't become known for casual wear and instead focus on well cut dress-up/dress-down clothing for standard yuppies, while offering casual wear on the side and away from windows.

Ponce City Market Fly Through
This is a really great look at the vision--I hope it all turns out as planned (and I hope for economic success they end up having as many patrons with Maseratis as shown in the rendered garage!). This feels a bit like what the re-developers of Underground must have thought of back in the early 90s. I think the location and community support will drive PCM to more success than Underground... but I just feel the same space-planning in the retail/restaurant mall areas in the fly-thru. I do agree with A-Town: can't wait until this development opens!

Good observation UVAsuperman, I didn't think about Underground Atlanta, I bet you're right though.
