I'm inclined to side with strikers in most situations. Even if their demands are a little extreme - the presence of unions, the act of striking, is so important to the wealth of the middle class. Look at America - richest country in the world, but only 27th richest middle class and only 7% of workers represented by unions.

But those extreme demands have to be a bargaining tool, not nonnegotiable. These strikers are just... 58% raise? Seriously? Dear God... sure, you might be underpaid compared to workers at larger, busier airports and that might seem unfair now that St. John's is catching up in air traffic - but it takes a while to even out the balance. You shouldn't demand it overnight with no room to negotiate.

I'm sad to say it... but I think this is one strike that has tried my patience and I can no longer support it.

I lost support for those strikers ages ago. No budge, no compromise, those guys are nothing but greedy. The airport has done just fine without those workers, maybe it's time to let them all go; striking for so long has shown that they're basically extra weight.

So apparently the city is giving us a trolley for downtown (hope this isn't old news):

Danielle Barron: "Think a trolley downtown will help ease traffic? We'll soon find out. The city will unveil its new trolley line tomorrow [June 20]. The trolley will cost $5/day and allow riders to step on and off at scheduled hourly stops."

Metrobus did something like this a few summers ago; they had an express route circling around downtown all day.

Ugh. Disgusting. DISGUSTING. They should be strung up for using words like trolley, etc. It's a F**KING METROBUS, you bastards. It's the WELFARE version of a trolley. ANY other city in the world would be ASHAMED to even admit it was doing it, let along promote it as some fancy thing. For shame.

Thats just a bad idea, the only way i can see tourists using that is to get back to their hotels after a "long" walk. You're literally paying 5 dollars to not walk a few hundred meters.
