Time to buy up all the lots in Rowatt and Richardson!. I imagine there are a few hundred lots surveyed in each of these ghost towns. Rowatt needs to get its rail line back in service or it will lose its grain terminals. the bridge over Wascana creek burned down over a year ago.

All others being under/overpasses.

Edit: Nevermind... Looking at the government mapping of the possible routes, they may indeed put an interchange at 6 as well.
I'm pretty sure the specifications being demanded for this route are a limited access freeway. No at-grade intersections period. The question will be the type of interchange

EDIT: Sorry, I was a page behind

Rouleau has the fictional Corner Gas station ...but maybe Rowatt could have a real Corner Gas!?

Fond memories of Novia Cafe

Ahh, how sad the Novia Café is no more. Fond memories of grilled cheese sandwiches after a trip to the library. But I really like the suggestion to have a Milestone's on 1st or 2nd floor of the potential new tower! Downtown could use another swank joint, especially with all the condos going up nearby.

There will be an interchange at Hwy 11. ("Half now" and "half later" sort of thing.)

This new route would be most invaluable with reference to oversized truck/trailer loads.

Are you asking how to copy the link from a webpage?

You simply select the address bar at the top, select all the text, copy, and then paste it here. Just like copying text from the site, only you are doing it for the URL bar (address bar).

I'd really prefer it be a local store. I'm not a fan of chains going up downtown.

Ah, then I agree. A local place would be best, but an Earls or anything like that would be better than an empty office front.

So much for chainlink fence and an empty security car keeping people out.

REGINA – Fire crews were kept busy battling a blaze at the Sherwood Motel on South Albert Street Friday morning.

The fire started just before 4 a.m. on the main floor of the hotel in the south east corner of the building.

Firefighters don’t believe anyone was inside the building and there are no reports of any injuries.

Officials will not say if the blaze was suspicious but the fire marshall has ordered overnight security for the property.

Traffic was temporarily restricted on Albert Street but has since returned to normal.

Fire inspectors will remain on scene for the remainder of Friday morning.

Looks like someone will actually have to SIT in that security car parked out front now. Should have been doing that from the start.

I drove by after midnight last night and there was no security apparent. I hope I am not a suspect...

Fairfield Inn & Suites on Albert South

Article from the June 22, 2013 issue of the Regina Leader-Post, written by Pamela Cowan about the Sherwood House Motel fire. It also talks about the plans for the new Fairfield Inn & Suites which will replace it.

"Shin Chair... owner of the property at the corner of Albert Street and Parliament Avenue, plans to build the Fairfield Inn and Suites by Marriott on the site. Currently he is waiting for a building permit from the city, but demolition has already started.
His plans for the development include 122 hotel rooms, a restaurant, an indoor swimming pool, meeting rooms and a complimentary breakfast area.
If all goes well, Chair hopes work will begin on the hotel by the end of the month.
The building permit is under review right now, said Garry Wasyliw, manager of the city building standards branch.
“The engineering people are still working on it and the zoning people have just signed off and it’s in for the building code reviews now,” Wasyliw said. “There’s no anticipated issues, but it’s got to work through the system.”

Another hotel

The vacant lot beside the pasqua hospital on dewdney has public notice on it saying an eight story building is proposed for the site. I believe someone here posted it would be a hotel.

Let's hope it has underground parking as parking is tight already.
