It's ironic the best panoramic views of Ottawa are from Gatineau. This building looks like a nice addition to the skyline.

I don't know if anyone watched "Idiot Abroad" a few years back, but the guy visited Petra (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Petra). When he was there, he commented that he would rather live in the cave across with a view of the "Al Khazneh" than living in the "Al Khazneh" with a view of a regular rock across the way.

I hope you are not referring to the location as a cave ....but I understand what you are saying!!!

No condo in Ottawa (or Gatineau) can offer the same advantages....your own front yard being an accessible NCC park on the river, only downtown marina ..., winterlude activities, cross country skiing & walking/cycling access to trails that you could not imagine , all across the street, terrific view of Ottawa River, Parliement buildings/hill, Casino & Canada Day July 1 fireworks, beer festival steps away, easy access to Byward Market , NAC, Museum of Civilizations (IMAX), Rideau centre area from pedestrian friendly Alexandria bridge...just to name a few.

I really cannot think of a better location in the NCR ...unless you want to live in a 100% cement environment...and even there I wonder !!!

Lets not mention the DESTINATION GATINEAU project in scope for 2017...subject for later.

Oh - Did I forget to mention the 20th floor roof top terrace, spa, sauna, endless pool and fitness area....yes all overlooking the area with a 360 degree angle.

AMAZING!!!

Right now, Le Viu is defiantly one of the nicest buildings going up in downtown Ottawa/Gatineau. And pricing for that building, I assume, is likely at an advantage to Ottawa while as you say, still having an amazing location.

But right now, Hull in general is still the cave across the carved temple, but with more designs like Le Viu and initiatives like Destination Gatineau (assuming it will go ahead), it could give Ottawa a run for its money.

It's kind of the same with Niagara Falls - we have the more attractive side, but the US side gets the better view.

Someone's a tad bit excited about their condo, and looks to have learned how to use the "smilies"

The Viu looks to be a great project, but like all projects that are in the works, I'll wait until it is completed until I form a complete opinion.

Case in Point - 90 George. Pre-completion, was to be THE address downtown. Was supposed to have the "biggest backyard" in the market, a glut of amenities, a 17th floor restaurant, etc.... Almost none of that panned out.
Aesthetically, it's a nice looking building, but it's a shell of what it was supposed to be.

I'm not saying that Viu will be this, it could very well end up being one of the nicest condos in the NCR, but it'll always have one issue that can't be solved - it's in Gatineau, not Ottawa. Aka: Tax up the a$$.

wow..i never heard about this 17th floor restaurant...that would have been amazing! the market could really use a nice overlook restaurant-bar!

Agree with you for the income taxes...but not as bad when you earn less and are retired. Also to consider is the purchase price which can be as much as 20%-25% lower which when factored in makes it an attractive proposition.

Oh, did I forget to mention the 75% reduction on the municipal tax bill for the next 7 years.

IMO, the Viu looks way netter than 90 George. For the price of condos in there, it looks like .

Weird. I don't know if the guys who take the cranes up and down are part of the construction union, but considering the site has been dead for the last week, and assuming Heafey was done with it, I wonder why it wasn't taken down earlier.

I've got a great view of the Viu (ha) from my office, and I'm very pleased to see how this is adding to Gatineau's eastern skyline! I think there is huge potential on that side of the river for a really hip community.

I drove by the building earlier this week. The landscaping and amenities are near completion. They planted columnar oak trees on the lawn at the front of the building and various other schrubs.

The outside visitor parking at the back appears to be made from some type of interlock block that will allow for the grass to come through between the blocks to create a "green" environment.

Should be nice for the new residents to move in starting late October.

It is great to see a building going up well within the lot line similar to it's next door neighbour Port de Plaisance.

The moving will apparently go well into February.
