In Gatineau there's a Jehovah's witness building that looks like a bunch of canoes.

Google has failed me, can't find a pic.

edit - guess google maps will do

I think Edmonton's strangest is the BioSci building at the UofA. It isn't that strange from the outside, but because it was built by a handfull of contractors at the same time there are doors to nowhere and classrooms that could only be accessed through closets. I never had any classes in that building so i never got to see such things, only the urban legends that surround it.

Methinks Victorians won't feel so bad about their "Tuscany Village" after they see Edmonton's "Venetian":

That horrid condo building's not very far from where I live. But it's more than far enough away that I don't have to look at it every day - thank God.

Looks like something Mickey Mouse got drunk and threw up on!

It's actually four to five blocks further south.

I spent a lot of time in one of those in Winnipeg. A friend, since deceased, lived in Place Promenade, connected to Portage Place. The apartments were actually quite nice - and the balconies huge. But, yes, the buildings looked awful.

Progressing from mildly odd to weird:

Stephenville Arts and Culture Centre - I never did realize it was different until I gave directions to a "building that looks like a staircase".

100_2582

WWII bunker - we have a bunch now used for storage, this one belongs to the town's public works department.

100_2580

And my favourite, the octopus building. It's an accountant's office and storage units.

Closer look at the tentacles... I mean tunnels:

I forgot that existed. God, I am SO glad you're here, Trevor3. I lived in your town for 2 years, loved it, and still don't know it entirely.

Yeah, I heard the one in Calgary was designed to look like a boom-box at night. The one here is actually pretty cool, has a glass elevator, and most of the units are being/have been redone.
