RFP for high-profile Tech computing center due soon

Georgia Tech is close to issuing a request for proposals to pick a development adviser for the school’s nearly 700,000-square-foot High Performance Computing Center proposed in Midtown’s Technology Square.

The RFP, which Georgia Tech was expected to release in the first quarter, is due any day, said commercial real estate executives familiar with the process. Some were surprised the RFP for the $150 million to $200 million project had not been issued. They attributed the delay, in part, to a battle over the fate of the historic Crum & Forster building.

Also of note, the mixed-use development across from the 4 Seasons Hotel on 14th street (old symphony center site) has gotten even taller and by the looks of it will be the tallest building in midtown!

Anyway... stay tuned for some really great announcements!!!
Wow, seems too good to be true, but if it is then great news!

THANK GOD!!!!!!!!! Every time I pass the North Ave and P'tree site I get so pissed. I never understood why they demo'ed the other office tower in the first place not to mention that it was only going to be 2 floor with no retail. I hope they have some kinda retail but I'm not gonna push it. More details on this mixed-use development on 14th... This is new to me.

I don't think this is true. I'm in the final stages of bidding this project and while there have been plenty (albeit minor alterations) there has not been any addition of an office tower. Considering contracts are being awarded for the current project, I highly, highly doubt it's going through a redesign. Not to say it couldn't happen, but considering the stages the project is in I don't think its likely at all. Perhaps you know something I don't?

To add, there is ground floor retail on this project on Peachtree Street.

Meanwhile back at Buckhead Atlanta...

'Curbed Atlanta' reports Buckhead Atlanta to shift into full gear with Parcel A (P'tee/Pharr Rd) going vertical in week or two and Parcel C ( fronting P'tree) this summer. First stores to open in Spring w/ full completion late '14. 300k sq/ft retail and 100k office (1.5m sq/ft overall.

It is a little hard to believe regarding a 14th street mixed use development that would be the tallest in midtown (assume this comment is excluding BofA Plaza since it is technically south of "Midtown"). Seems like a tower like that in this economy would need substantial tenants locked up going in. Speaking of BofA, rumor is that large Atlanta law firm Troutman Sanders is looking at moving... that would be a good large tenant for a new building sandwiched right between high profile competitors King & Spalding (1180 Peachtree) and Alston & Bird (One Atlantic Center)...

Hmmm. Intriguing...Almost too intriguing!!!

That's definitely exciting news, especially on 14th. I work in Symphony Tower, and I can't wait to see more skyscrapers nearby (and for that narrow sidewalk to finally expand!) Ironically, I used to work in BoA Plaza, and any development with street-level retail would be welcome (there's NOTHING to eat at lunchtime!)

That's also interesting news. There would be a critical mass of law firms in Midtown, especially if you include Atlantic Station. I hope BoA Plaza lands a huge tenant to replace Troutman (I expected it to be Coke, since they'd be on the street as their headquarters, but SunTrust Plaza is a more beautiful building). I wonder who else would move downtown?
