It's amazing the state will throw money at a football stadium (served by Atlanta supported rail), yet won't throw a dime at public transit, including the rail that feeds the stadium and essentially allows it be where it is - on state owned land. Oh the hypocrisy and lack of leadership in GA.

And you're surprised? I think a review of the state's history of nonsupport for transit should lead you to expect such things.

I can certainly see the desire for a new stadium - they are being built/funded all over the country and Atlanta needs to stay in the mix. But I wish we could move forward on more transit options for Metro Atlanta too...they don't have be mutually exclusive.

I think the same could be said for public transportation projects, but we don't seem to focus too much on that.

An advance technology lab for Georgia Tech. An expansion for the Veterans Administration. A possible distribution center. And maybe even a movie studio. These are all what could be part of the former Fort McPherson.

Looks very nice! The biggest part of this update is that they are no longer going to be apartments, but now condos.

^Yeah, other than the Streetcar Downtown, the only other major projects underway are the MARTA bridges on 400 at the Buckhead Station and the I-85/400 connector ramps.

Man, as an owner of a Midtown condo, I would be THRILLED to see people paying $3 s/f to live in a Midtown condo.

Does anyone know what is going in on 10th st across from the new Hyatt? Where that thai place used to be ... I think it was called "Mint" or something.

It is being reclad / remodeled but I didn't see a sign saying what it was going to be.

You can see in the photos the sunlight is reflecting off the solar panels. It is what it is. Maybe the solar panels in the article are of the highly reflective kind whereas other panels don't reflect as much? I don't know. But either way, about the gondola ferris wheel I think would be an appropriate addition to the C.O.P. area because of the high concentration of touristy places. It would be out of place pretty much anywhere else.

My point is that the article comes from a less-than-reputable source, and the guy sounds like he might be a complainer. The photos could be touched up as well - not an uncommon thing for a tabloid to do. The story just doesn't give much credence to your point.

"After simmering for months, a deal is finally done for a new high-rise apartment tower on the site of longtime Atlanta restaurant Dante’s Down the Hatch.

Developer Atlantic Realty Partners and suburban Dallas, Texas- real estate company Behringer Harvard have formed a joint venture to develop the new tower.

They acquired the nearly 2-acre Buckhead site for $8.8 million, according to Fulton County property records.

The transaction closed at the end of April.

Rafael Garcia Architect Inc., also based in Buckhead, will design the apartment tower."
