The Eastern National Bank building to the right in these photos will be demolished in the future as this is the site of the 634-feet tall office tower that is currently planned for Brickell CityCentre. You can also see the 8th street Metromover station that will run through Brickell Citycentre.

This photo update of Millecento is actually three in one. You can see EnV Brickell under construction on the top of the Brickell Village parking garage and you can also see City Heights over on 7th Street under construction.

I have a different vision for Miami World Center and for Miami in general

This is just a starting rough draft of the vision of the skyline if the FAA enacted a no-fly zone over the downtown area and surrounding neighborhoods. Courtesy of Google Earth and SketchUp.

Instead of just a collection of highrises, the Miami World Center would feature iconic twin towers as well, giving a former WTC feeling but the architecture of these buildings would be reminiscent of the nearby American Airlines Arena. The bland box buildings, as with all the other fake structures, are just placeholders.

This tower, placed in the same lot that is currently the site for Met 3, would be taller, and its design would resemble that of One Bayfront Plaza in its earlier stages.

Thanks for taking the time to do this. I enjoy looking at it. It's actually not far off from what was originally planned considering the twin towers of Empire World were originally planned at 1,200 feet and One Bayfront Plaza was originally planned at 1,180 feet.

It would be interesting to see what you could do with what we know is currently planned, including Brickell CityCentre, Miami World Center, OBP, Panorama Tower, Banco Santander, and Echo Brickell for instance. What Genting will build without the gaming remains to be seen.

How about Miapolis.

I Hope the FAA could put a no fly zone.

Yeah, Empire World gave me the idea. I'll try to find models of current projects and add them in.

It would be great if you could do that. I, for one, would certainly appreciate it. Let me know if there is a way I can help you with that.

Thanks, Bob! I don't know if you read my post on the preceding page, but this website has reached the level of City-Data with the negativity here and City-Data is really bad. At least on SSC, I can do something about uncivil conversations, but I came back here because I've decided that my photo contribution is much more important than boycotting this website altogether, so here I am. I'll just stay out of discussions unless I need to post a picture to prove a point.

Q? Wow look at all of the construction in the west Brickell area! It looks like 4 highrises going up! Do you know the names of these projects?

Yes! It's the big former Millennium Partners lot there by the river.

Two 600-footers are already going up along this stretch. What an oceanfront skyline this is going to be. It doesn't quite approximate Australia's Gold Coast with the height restrictions they have here on Sunny Isles Beach, but still nothing like it anywhere else in the U.S. You can make out both cranes in the second photo.

I can't name them all right off. I know the one on SW 7th Street is City Heights. Dave might know the others. I think UMdev names them all in the Brickell section on the other website.

Grove at Grand Bay condo to break ground

BY MARTHA BRANNIGAN
[email protected]

Miami-based developer Terra Group expects to break June 5 on its Grove at Grand Bay condominium project in Coconut Grove, which will feature two 20-story glass and steel towers, twisting floor to floor and showcasing its bayfront views.

The low-density project, designed by Danish architect Bjarke Ingels, will emphasize green space and comprise just 98 units, with prices starting at $3 million. The condos at 2675 South Bayshore Drive will boast floor-to-ceiling glass sliding doors opening to 12-foot high balconies stretching 12 feet deep. Raymond Jungles is in charge of lush landscaping plans.
