Mainly because it's the internet and I'm allowed to 🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵 all I want. However, I stand by my position.

Now I have been absent from the forums for a good while and I only checked in here a few weeks ago to read about Fortress and their intentions to build a tall building. Next it was 'stay tuned for a big announcement...' I eagerly awaited. The announcement turned out to be 'Hi, we are Fortress and we want to build a tall building.' So yeah, it was a letdown. It didn't give me any reason to be excited, or at least more excited than I already was. Publicity stunt? Yes. Announcement? Not so much.

Anyways, that is enough of my rant. I am still excited about the prospect of a new tallest.

Re: 42-storey towers, some of them seem to be incorporating wind turbines e.g., The Bahrain World Trade Center Towers:

and the 42-storey Strata building in London, which was picked as Britain's ugliest new building:

"The 42-storey building in Elephant & Castle was nominated for its 'plain visual grotesqueness' and 'Philishave stylings'"
http://www.guardian.co.uk/artanddesign/2010/aug/12/strata-tower-britains-ugliest-building

Incidentally, it seems Sault Ste. Marie was looking at building a 42-storey tower at one point - don't know what happened with that.

Anyway, I think tv would be a good choice to design a new tower in WPG. A slam dunk choice, or (more topically) a volley like Robben's here:

Was over the Settlers bridge on Thursday and didn't see anything in progress. The foundation equipment that was sitting there last fall is also gone.

Sault Ste. Marie's 42 storey building is actually slowly progressing. Absurd as that whole proposal is. So if you guys want that "Tallest Between Toronto and Calgary" title, you better hurry up!

I hope these wouldn't make the same kind of noise the ones West of Miami,Manitoba make.
Anyone that has been near one of the wind turbines while it is on should know why, the noise they make even from hundreds of feet away is crazy, i can't imagine having that close to windows or a balcony where i would live or even work.
Unless of course there is someway for them to make them quieter, i'm no wind turbine expert or anything...

It was actually in the news yesterday. The building it will be replacing was hit with arson in February and the developer from Toronto hasn't yet demolished it, the city will likely do so. They're saying the project is still going forward but are now non-committal to the number of floors.

It would have looked like this:

According to some on the Ottawa thread, this project has been scaled back to between 20-24 floors; a more realistic size of tower for a small, isolated city like Sault Ste. Marie.

Mom moved. No longer her back yard. Build your suburban skyscraper paradise. Doesn't bother me!

Or the people who research the developers checkered past:

Fair enough but along those same lines , I get the impression that most developers have run into trouble at some point or another.
