Yeah, not that great. Those things are very bright and the one at Robson and Granville, although small in size, shines rather brightly into our apartment at One Wall Center, although far away. It's not like it would disturb or anything, but you do notice it once you go to sleep.

Probably until PavCo builds a hotel development with a relocated Edgewater casino (whether same size or expanded) on that site.
I could see the sign reoriented if it is no longer visible from the bridge.

With the casino hotel across the street to the east, it would make sense to have retail facing it.

The intent as it currently stands is to begin construction in Fall of 2013, In speaking with Concord last thought was excavation start in late September or early October.

What makes you think that? PavCo/BC Place hasn't shown any indication that they would modify the sign to date.

It's my understanding they've rebuffed requests from the city to bring the sign into compliance with the city sign bylaw by resting on the fact that BC Place is provincially regulated.

Because the sign sits where a part of the casino is supposed to be built. That's why PAVCO didn't install the sign until after the city denied Paragon's gaming expansion application, effectively killing the project.

What I don't get is why the casino even bothered going through the city process. From what I understand all they need is PAVCO's permission to build on the stadium site since it is provincial land and not bound by city zoning laws.

Good neighbour agreement, technically they could build it without the citys consent, and technically the city could close all the roads leading to the stadium's loading docks. It's a game not worth playing as it ends up costing a lot of money in court with no winners. Best to try and work things out, the province can afford to be patient and wait things out, eventually they will find a sympathic council.

It will be interesting to see whether the city is going to be more cooperative now that the Liberals will be around for years to come.
