I'm very excited to hear what is announced this morning. I'm really hoping to see some sort of design! If not, just knowing that this project alone could potentially bring in a few hundred extra downtown residents is reason alone for much excitement.

you gotta hand it to them....they know how to make a splash.

there are probably other projects out there that are every bit as real, significant and as far along, that we haven't even heard of yet....fortress go hard on the marketing...its a nice change to be honest.

Again, i agree with Viking. I know that this building isn't designed yet. They may have some basic, early renderings for what they are proposing to create some excitement. I believe, because they are new to the market they want to make a big splash, get to know the industry, and pitch their product. This will also help with sales when they begin.

I know that everyone wants to see the finished renders but we need to be patient. This is really good for Winnipeg. These are big developers who are planning to spend large money here in our city. This is a great first step.

An interesting article. It would be awesome if they can pull this together. Hard to believe they want to spend 1 million constructing a sales office on the parking lot!?

Found this link on the Mady webpage. Is this new?

http://liveworkplaywinnipeg.com/

Of course, they want to pre-sell and lease about half of the space before construction starts. Not sure if there is a demand for 100,000 square feet of office space in downtown Winnipeg. Hopefully the sales of Glasshouse indicate a strong market for the proposed 450 condos in this development. Time will tell I guess.

This is what is so good about this project. That is how big time developers market their projects in big cities world wide. They are spending big money here in Winnipeg and it shows they are serious.

it also said in the free press that they plan multiple levels of underground parking....maybe in Toronto, but not here....my guess is the office space will become above ground parking.

Did you add the 'go hard' part because it's the tallest? Phallic symbol overload.. whoops.. said "load"..

..and splash..

Maybe it is my lack of familarity with how big projects like this get financed but I am a little concerned with how shovel-ready the project is when the new liveworkplaywinnipeg.com site has a link for potentinal investors to self-declare interest in the project.

According to the below item (handout? tearsheet? newspaper ad?) the event is 11 am local time for one hour with a press conference set for noon.

Thanks. That handout was sent to folks who responded they would like to attend the event today.

Fortress is really putting on a show. Twitter feed is hoping today, some photos from the setup on Graham avenue.

There will be no rendering of the actual building. Sales likely won't start until spring 2014.

You would think that they'd at least trot out a conceptual rendering to build some buzz. Otherwise, the message is just "uh, we're thinking about putting up a big building...call us if you're interested"
