Very nice tower, but...

We'll need wider sidewalks. The sidewalks we have can barely hold the people we have at this intersection now.

Because it's a rental tower, it will have very short construction timelines once it gets city approval. Might want to get this one up as fast as possible with downtown rents hitting $2000 per month for average apartments, something like this rental would be between $2500 to $3000 dollars per month.

That is glorious! Bravo Toronto. Hitting the primary core rental game right in the money maker! I hope the materials are quality!

I agree with Caltrane. TOs Yonge sidewalks... and basically all sidewalks in and around the financial core, are not only too small, but in a dismal state of disrepair. But that could be the case in many financial cores? I know on the side of Calgary's Hudson's Bay building facing the Herald Square site, the sidewalk there is actually just pockmarked asphalt, it's like they hired a class of 3rd graders to do the work.

Beautiful! I can't wait to see this constructed. Especially if it is black aluminium a la John Hancock.

damnnn, looking sexc

In the future I'll rent a unit and sublet out the rooms. Think of all the bratty chicas who'd love to live above the Eatons Centre. With millionaire parents footing the youd be able to charge these fashion, design, makeup students way above market rental rate.
EDIT> oh damn, nvm its a rental..

Plus there is no parking, I'm hoping this gets built in no time

At first my first reaction was very similar to the reactions expressed by you guys. However, I'm just realizing that if you take away the fancy lighting at the base and just look at tower itself, it doesn't really impress. To be honest, the large square glass sections can be done horribly wrong with some sub par quality material. I don't mean to say it looks bad and I know it is preliminary and will change as time goes on but at this stage, it can end up looking like Aura's spandrel disaster. If it does all four sides will be quite a horrid thing to look at. Only time will tell...

On closer inspection, the close up of the fenestration does leave one wondering. Let's hope they take their inspiration from TD Centre and not AURA.

I love it too. Would love it even more if the diagonal hatching carried on all the way too the top.

Fear not, Cadillac Fairview will not destroy their multi-billion dollar showcase property with Spandrel. This tower will be a show stopper, look at the company it keeps and fear not.

It looks fantastic on this late-day/early evening render, but let's wait to see a day-time render before making an opinion. One way or the other, I like how svelte and tall it is.

It is a preliminary rendering which was not supposed to be released to the public. The design will change.

As we have discussed before, the foundation work for the tower already exists, so excavation would be limited, most of the initial work would be limited to gutting and removing the historic building on the site.
