Nope - I think the old Peoples location fits the bill better.

1. You are probably right! I read that article and it was insightful. But is just me or is Fossil... meh? Coach or Michael Kors are not even in the same category as Fossil, that's what my wife said anyway, Fossil is far more bohemian too. Isn't Fossil a men's watch & belt place she said? I say, if so, it's finally an addition for men at Champlain.

2. In my opinion, the attraction factor of this store is slightly above Jack & Jones which is not much to begin with. In any event, I don't know if it will do all that well at Champlain, but like any new tenant at Champlain, I wish them the best! Cheers!

Is Jack & Jones not popular in Moncton? That's surprising, it's quite popular amount young men here in Halifax.

Fossil has nice stuff, great wallets and other leather accessories. It has quite a following among middle aged people (especially women).

Most people around here don't know Jack & Jones and the ones that went in the store and saw $80 shirts didn't buy anything... Most people don't pay this much for a brand they haven't heard much of... Just my 2 cents.

Jack & Jones may seem unbusy, but it is one of those stores which probably makes most of it's money in the pre Christmas period. My middle son is quite tall and thin and he likes the store very much. The European fit of the clothing suits him very well. I think the store does better than some people expect.

Fossil does overlap with Coach for women's handbags and such, but I agree with OUIR@random in the sense that it seems more Bohemian and eclectic and also serves a male clientele as well. It will fill a niche at Champlain and should do well, especially as it will be a destination store that will draw from NB and PEI. Again, it will likely do best in the pre-Christmas period.

This is really the power and strength of Champlain Place. It is the super-regional mall for NB and PEI. It is usually massively packed with shoppers in the holiday period. The annuals sales per square foot compare well with other super-regional malls. If it had to survive on Moncton traffic alone however, I think it would not be quite so attractive to higher end retailers.....

I have a friend who works at Jack and Jones and they are busier than you think, she said that its just not like most of the stores where they could see constant traffic in one day, but instead see people come in bunches... I know for a fact that they have good sales, I can't say much because its confidential, but believe me just because you don't see people there when you go doesn't mean they aren't making money.

I don't have anything against Jack & Jones, and I don't have any insider or financial information about them. My opinion comes from the fact that the brand is a little unknown and that during the few times that I go to Champlain, which is usually on Saturdays; the place is empty when it should be the busiest day and time of the week. I hope they are doing well and I'm sure some people must find them attractive.

I completely agree, whenever I go to the mall, it never has people in it, but she said they get good business, I assume, that they get a few waves a day where people spent a couple hundred on clothing.

jack and jones isn't really that expensive - they had hoodies for like $39 here in BC, i just wish they had more stores, they have only recently expanded to the west

MonctonRad you are correct!

Crepe Delicious & Froshberg Gelato is moving into the old Access location, this is an interesting new addition. I'm not too fond of that location though, foot traffic there is not the best, but at least they are close to a main entrance and they have a corner spot. This location is a little better than Booster Juice which is awful traffic wise.

Actually it was Delicious that suggested that the store would be located in the old Access location, but thanks anyway.

I did discover that it was going to be a combo store with both Crepe Delicious and Froshberg though..........

In other news, the old Addition-elle location at Wheeler Park is currently being renovated for an "Ardene Concept Store".

This will bring Wheeler Park back to 100% occupancy.......

I see that they are starting to tear apart the facade at the Northwest Centre next to the new Target location, where the Marshall's location will be.

As far as I know, the anticipated opening date for Marshall's is still spring 2014, but I thought this was an interesting development anyway. It could simply be because they want to "even out" the front of the plaza in that location. The front of the plaza had formerly been a little "zig-zag" where the Sony Store had formerly been.

If the Starbuck's at the Target store is going to have an external entrance, I could see it being in that area.....

That would be practical but I highly doubt it, the whole point is to draw people inside Target.

I'll second the point that Starbucks at Target will not have an external entrance. I've been to many Target locations in the US and I've never seen a separate entrance to Starbucks.

I think that there will be enough Starbucks in Moncton soon. 1. Chapters location 2. Champlain Place location 3. Lounsbury Plaza location 4. Downtown location (former CIBC on Main) 5. Target Mountain Road location. Did I forget one?

No, you are quite right, there will be five Starbuck's outlets in greater Moncton as of this fall. You can also get Starbuck's coffee at the Delta Beausejour and at the GMIA, but those aren't full fledged Starbuck's outlets.

As to where else they might set up shop, I don't know.
- I don't think Riverview would be right for Starbuck's at present.
- If the Mapleton Centre were more successful, I would wonder about there.
- If the events centre gets built, that would be an excellent location.
- The atrium at the Moncton Hospital would be a good place for them (several thousand employees, lots of foot traffic, right next to the ambulatory care centre) but I'm pretty sure Tim Horton's has an exclusivity clause with Horizon.
- Starbuck's might do very well at Casino NB.

Beyond that, I have no thoughts.....

There's just about enough coffee shops in Moncton IMHO. I'm sure Moncton has the highest per capita coffee shop in Canada, we already know about Tims. I don't think that is something to brag about either...

In T&T it said the new Starbucks coming at Church and Main Street is suppose to be one of the largest in Canada.

Regarding the Starbucks on Main Street, this was news last week in L'Acadie Nouvelle. The T&T is planning catch up to l'Acadie Nouvelle...

What was funny about the l'Acadie Nouvelle headline was that they said they would set up shop in a heritage building...!? The CIBC building on Main is not what comes to mind when talking about heritage, however I like the idea of re-using buildings and giving them new purposes. They also said that they would keep some aspects of the bank layout, like the bank vault, so this is interesting and cool.
