Painting of the field continues at IGF today. It appears that one end zone has the Blue Bomber logo and wordmark, while the other endzone has the University of Manitoba logo and wordmark... it'll be a bit weird to see the Bombers playing on U. of M.-marked turf.

Will the endzones be filled in with colour? Hope so.

Again, it's gonna be a great place to watch football, even if you're sitting in your living room.

With the Bombers footing a large portion of the construction costs I can't see why the UofM would have that much signage in the endzone. They should have it like we have in Regina right now, a Large "ROUGHRIDERS" in one endzone and then a big Riders logo in the other endzone with a little UofR logo in that endzone as well. Just my 2cents.

Stadium looks really good, can't wait to see it in Sept.

I'm really glad to see the University. The big difference between the two stadiums is that it is actually on campus of the university, and it is the Bisons home field as well. It only makes sense that they get an equal share of the logo space. I think it is far more classy to have both, rather than denounce the Bisons impact on the surrounding community.

I'll agree the end zones (so far) kinda suck, but people shouldn't get hung up on that and lose sight of the fact that this is an awesome new stadium for the CFL.

It is a fabulous stadium, but like most things, details do matter. This is the face of the league so visuals mean everything. They need to get these things right.

Agree, but I would have preferred 'Bombers' on one end and 'Bisons' on the other.

That is what they have done. Refer to the link for a better idea, unless you mean strictly "Bombers" and "Bisons" without anything else on each. Bisons would work, it would have to be at least "Blue Bombers" on the other side.

It's definitely a nice one, but I think BC Place is in a league of its own ahead of all others in Canada.

Trouble with BC Place is that it is out of scale for both the CFL and MLS, having half the seats tarped off during sporting events in a venue just doesn't cut it.

I agree with RRskylar. And this isn't just bias talking either. BC Place just doesn't provide the same atmosphere that IGF will be able to. The roof is also a sound absorber rather than a reflector like IGF, deadening the sound. IGF was build specifically to make things that are already loud much louder. That and a sold out stadium feels much bigger than a half empty stadium.

The colour scheme of the seating is supposed to mitigate the half empty stadium effect. The truth is though, BC Place is too big for the CFL and MLS, and isn't suitable for NFL and MLB. It's a bit of a white elephant. Looks nice though.

The city had an opportunity to have a waterfront venue with a spectacular mountain view. Oh well.

The Lower Mainland is populated enough that they should be able to sell out BC Place stadium every time. The problem is that football just isn't as big of a sport there as it is on the Prairies, the Maritimes, and the US. It will take the continued resurgence of the CFL nationally and perhaps a provincial rival in Victoria before Vancouverites start supporting the Lions in large numbers.

Actually, a provincial rival for the Lions would help immeasurably. Same goes for the Alouettes. It's things like this that build interest.

Why? Bisons on one end and Bombers on the other would have been perfect. Everyone knows it's Blue Bombers, but we don't have to write the whole thing out. The key to a good graphic is to keep it simple while conveying your message. Not only did they write the whole thing out, they added 'Winnipeg' and the logo on top of that. It's way too busy.

Look how sharp UWO's end zone looks below. Everyone knows where they are. There's no need to clutter the graphic by writing 'The University of Western Ontario Mustangs'. They get graphics. The only distracting thing is the cut off corners due to the track and soccer lines; both beyond their control.

They should just change the endzones like they do at the Metlife stadium (Jets and Giants home)

Ahhh, to be swimming in money! Do the Jets play the Giants ever?

BC Place is a more impressive structure, but IGF is going to have the best game day experience in Canada. If I could choose one to duplicate across the CFL it would be Winnipeg's.

Word out of Calgary is that a joint football/hockey arena and stadium announcement is coming in the next few months.

Separate facilities in a new entertainment district in the city's downtown westend.

And how much with the provincial government be kicking in for this little bit of glam?
