I was even considering using one of my slightly more zoomed in images, but I wanted to keep the edge of Riverfront Pointe in frame.

Also, it was very fortunate that the clouds shifted hard to the south in the hours between the two skyline shots I posted here, so that they look like entirely different evenings.

Yeah man seriously! Someone on my facebook posted a comparison pic of Toronto in 2000 and Toronto in 2013 from the exact same vantage point. The change is actually astonishing. I'll try to find it, but I don't know the source so it'll prolly get taken down.

That's probably the biggest change in a skyline in the world outside China or Dubai.

Yeah definitely the biggest change in the (fully) industrialized world for an already major skyline. It is like triple the size now. Even if no new buildings began construction from now on, all of what is under construction will further completely transform the skyline again. By 2017, Toronto will have 4x the skyline it did in 2000, and multiple new secondary skylines as well

That is astounding. Continuing on that theme, here's a pic I took from the CN Tower in 2000. Anybody got a current one?

I have a few saved on my comp but none are mine so I can't post them. But yes, the difference from the CN Tower is just as striking.

The view in that direction hasn't changed nearly as much as the view looking west or north.

seems they never clean the CN tower windows! I took those photo on my trip in march

If you compare the highrises built prior to 2003 to the highrises completed between 2003 and today, you'll find that the number of highrises in Toronto has more than doubled in the last ten years.

Once all of the highrises currently under construction are complete, Toronto will have literally tripled the number of highrises it had ten years ago.

If every highrise currently proposed were actually built, there would 5x as many highrises as there were in 2003.

Honestly I wish the Ice buildings could stay the height they are now. That has a really satisfying effect on the skyline. I think having too many buildings that appear to be around same height will look a bit monotonous - especially with the tallest buildings being closer to the financial core.

10 York will likely block them from view while Harbour Plaza might do the same to both MLS and FCP.

I actually don't mind the plateau effect, but what does it matter where Ice tops out when the view is destined to change anyway? Each of Oxford Plaza, 156 Front, 45 Bay and 1 Yonge will eventually create brand new peaks in the skyline from that view.
