I still would prefer US Steel to be in a tower, as it will be easier for Buncher to fill the smaller buildings. Again, a feel the only alternative where they can be campus like but be prominent is the arena site, which could look quite nice.

I think the Buncher location is great, but those buildings would be tucked in there and not visible. I hope both projects do justice to their location, regardless who resides in them.

And thanks Evergrey, you know how the Alcoa thing gets my blood boiling... nothing like more salt... sigh.

I can say with some certainty that the Carrie Furnace site has never been an option for USS. I'm really excited about that site and the potential for a steel heritage museum. I'm not sure where that stands now.

I could envision USS looking at the Hazelwood site, but it's probably a long shot.

Uptown and the Hill could definitely use more infill projects like those. That part of town has so many vacant lots. As Pittsburgh's population increases (man, I never thought I'd be posting that sequence of words), I'm sure we'll likely see these lots filling in with more development.

Yeah, Uptown has great potential down the road. We are seeing several great projects but there is space for dozens of infill projects.

By the way, I went to the Allegheny County website and confirmed that the Williams family sold these parcels to Action Housing. That is good news, since the development of Uptown really depends on the Williams family being willing to cash in, since they own so many of the potential infill parcels.

Looks like the Allegheny County Health Department has finally sold their building on Forbes Ave. so that the long-discussed hotel/office proposal can be built on the property. A nine-story hotel will be a good size for the area! More information:

I believe the first Oakland Portal building, recently approved by the planning commission, is also nine stories. So hopefully pretty soon there should be a nice complementary set of buildings going up.

The car chase is from Striking Distance with Bruce Willis as a river cop. Terrible movie but some great early nineties scenery.

I loved the scenery in that movie as well. Does anyone know where the police station was there? It looks like, from the view, that it should have been where the Science Center is, but I could never figure out what building it was in.

Also, which movie is the one with the white masks?

Glad you enjoyed it! StrikingDistance's "River Patrol" station was actually a Hollywood Prop on the Monongahela River right underneath and slightly to the East of the Liberty Bridge (across the river from the Jail and Duquesne University).

The mask scene was of the TV Series "Smith", same as the night speedboat chase & van explosion.

If I remember correctly, the (fake) water police station was on the southside opposite Duquesne (because you can see Duquesne in the background).

It's not a good movie, but the city is very visible in a lot of the film.

The car chase with the hills is Striking Distance, but the tunnel chase scene in the next clip is from a movie called Innocent Blood. It looks like it's a cult vampire movie.

I gotta say, from that video Austinlee posted, Pittsburgh has some swag.

Innocent Blood is fun but trashy, what you'd expect from John Landis. It's about vampire mafiosos who have a hideout in the sub-basement of The Oyster House. There are a few scenes on my street, Beech Ave, including the Calvary Methodist Church which seems to play a Catholic Church in the movie.

Innocent Blood wasn't very good, but I think it was it was supposed to more fun than serious. I don't remember a lot of that one, saw it the early 90s.

Another movie that showed off a lot of the city - downtown in particular was a mid 80s one called Lady Beware with Diane Lane. It's worth checking out, if you can find it.
