The only problem is how yellow (or in this case gold) seats show up when empty and Commonwealth has a lot of seats to fill.

But the yellow seats are located in areas which generally fill up. And this might be exactly how the illusion is intended to work: The eye will notice the existence of yellow seats. But the eye will also notice that most fans wear dark green jerseys, turning an empty yellow seat into a dark green space. Therefore, the empty dark green seats in the higher regions of the upper deck, our minds might tell us, must be filled with fans wearing dark green jerseys. Hence, the stadium will appear to be fuller than it really is.

That said, I think they could have come up with a superior mind-tricking scatter pattern.

The most disturbing thing about the new seats is that they are dragging out the process of installing them. They started installing them before last season and it appears that a second season is going to go by before they get them all in. That is so lame.

Yes, those sections hopefully would be filled and yes they are taking their time putting the seats in.

I'd be shocked if the 'R' wasn't there. I'd actually like the exact same helmet. Ottawa needs a nod to its storied football heritage and why mess with a classic? People always try to do too much when the answer is right before them.

When will the upper bowl by done? Commonwealth might end up 75% full after the seat reduction. The Eskimos drew 37,000 fans/game last year. It's not much of a stretch to see them bump up to 42,000/game.

Possibly! Considering that the new seats will be more comfortable right?

I'm sure that Ottawa will one day play with retro uniforms. The [Sask] Roughriders regularly have been doing that since 2010. During the 2010 season, the Riders even played one game with retro-coloured uniforms which were black/red with red helmets! (100th Anniversary thing.) It was certainly unusual to watch our 'Green and White' as being 'Red and Black!'

Jeff Hunt and the RedBlacks (better get used to saying that) are already on the case. They're looking at an annual retro game that would pit the Rough Riders against the Roughriders

I'm not a fan of using camel case in the name, and not a huge fan of the name itself, but I can see it growing on me with time.

EDMONTON - City council should give final approval to the downtown arena next week and find the remaining $69 million in financing later, a new city report recommended Thursday.

But one councillor who has consistently backed the project said he can’t go along with this latest funding proposal, and thinks the deal could be dead.

“It will be an unfortunate thing to do, but it might come to that, that we might not be able to proceed with the downtown arena,” Coun. Amarjeet Sohi said.

“Not getting a commitment from the province at this time, up to the writing of the report, I don’t see how we will proceed with it.”

Swell. Hope they don't start changing their minds.

I couldn't agree with you more.
Come on Ottawa - do the right thing - don't mess with a great uniform!

The new Commonwealth seats look good but I wonder why the upper tier is a lighter shade of green. It would look better with the same darker green as the lower tier IMO.

Yup, and the Eskimos weren't very good last year. Every year they seem to get 40,000+ crowds to regular season games.

2008: 48,808-----46,014-----40,453
2009: 62,517-----46,212
2010: 47,829
2011: 45,672-----40,274
2012: 43,178

Awesome. Keep in mind that part of the delay is that they are doing concrete repair as they go.
