Friday April 26th 2013 was a beautiful day for filming in Downtown. Today I file this Video Construction Update:

The crane is up. Crews are laying the foundations on the future tower. The former hotel renovation continues.
The Imperial Hotel:

A complete renovation is underway. When the project is completed, the building will have 90 units serving low- to moderate-income residents, many with special needs requiring supportive services... Now for that local grocery store and your set!!!
Aloft Hotel:

The former Days Inn on Baker b/t Williams and Spring is about to be completely renovated. The facade will be updated, entrance area makeover and the balconies will be enclosed. During the renovation the hotel is open to patrons under the name "Hotel ATL." Instead of closing the place down, it's now a budget hotel during renovation. Did they do the same with the old Hotel Midtown/new Hyatt Midtown?
54-70 Ellis Street :

The former SE HQ of The Salvation Army is up for sale. Only $4.5 million for 78,000 sq ft of office in a circa 1909 jewel! Plus another million in renovation I'd imagine but talk about location and a FANTASTIC looking building. Eureka! I've found the new HQ for Immovable Media Inc.!
Atlanta Life Insurance Building:

I noticed this historic landmark has a newer for sale sign up on the door. The Streetcar will pass right in front and I'm sure a developer will pick this up soon. I'm hoping GSU or SCAD will and restore this treasure. Same goes for the
Atlanta Life Insurance Annex Building right next door:

Odd Fellows Building and Auditorium:

In all my years walking around Downtown, I've never noticed these historic buildings built in 1912 and 1913, respectively. Come to think of it, if it wasn't for The Streetcar, I may have never noticed this diamond in the rough. These buildings served as the headquarters of the District Grand Lodge No. 18, Jurisdiction of Georgia, of the Grand United Order of Oddfellows of America. How many more of these building have I missed?! Then again, Sweet Auburn right by the connector is a little shady at times... A place I must say that I've always avoided, especially on foot, until recently...
GSU Law School:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E07spwpLydo
No visible progress in the last 7 weeks. Has GSU announced a groundbreaking date yet? The final renderings look great.
GSU New Science Center:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s7sQMgGP5D4
Nothing happening here either. GSU missed their target groundbreaking by ~8 weeks, and counting...
New Falcons Stadium Southern Site:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=irLZyJSKcDs
I'm 99% sure this is the proposed Southern Site for the GA Dome replacement. The footprint seems smaller than that of the dome...
The Gulch:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JCBHAVu5npk
...A massive hole that needs to be plugged...
Apparently the
Atlanta Multi-Modal Passanger Terminal is still in the planning stages but from what I've gathered, this project is gaining momentum & may even become a reality:
"In July 2012 redevelopment plans for The Gulch moved ahead when
President Barack Obama announced the final selection of the Atlanta Multi-Modal Passenger Terminal (MMPT) as one of a small group of projects from across the country to participate in the
Dashboard initiative, putting the permitting process for the Terminal on the fast track, cutting the timeline by as much as one year."

So instead of having to wait until 2030 to ride the train from ATL to Lovejoy, it will be 2029?
As a side note, why can't more parking decks in Atlanta look as good as
One Ninety One Peachtree does:

The columns do a great job of concealing its true identity...
