When I saw the site in person, it is plenty huge enough to fit both the tower and the plaza.

Until I actually saw the city for the first time years ago, Calgary has very large "city blocks" (sq.footage) than a lot of big cities! Heck a block that size in Chicago for example, has a 62 & a 42 story buildings with a huge plaza! ie.(AT&T and the USG buildings)

That is the plan. This site will be ramping up as EAP2 winds down. Many trades will be going to NMC (1200 tons of steel there) and City Center in the gap between, or for a lot of the fellas working at EAP, perhaps home to eastern Canada.

RyLucky: Somebody on the previous page mentioned they didn't think the block was big enough for two buildings and a large plaza..... That was my explanation for why it's plenty large for said use. I should have posted whom it was addressed too. Anyway, have a good day!

Someone marked this project on the Wikipedia page "list of tallest buildings in Calgary" Can this be confirmed? If not, I can take a look later this afternoon, as I work in SEC.

Siting of the new buildings is basically an update of what was done with 5th Ave Place two blocks north (the other side of Bow Valley Square). Instead of a reflecting pool taking up most of the plaza space, there is an enclosed +15 pavilion that connects the two buildings together, and connects this block to the Bay / Scotia Centre and Bow Valley Square.

Jeepers -- if BVSq can squeeze 4 towers on a block - and until recently the old medical professional building between BVS1 and BVS4, two towers and some plazas on the same-size block should be easy - peasy.

Now that the block has been cleared up to the Bay Parkade, you get to see how huge this chunk of concrete really is.

Still like to see it at 850'. At least it would be noticeably taller than the Bow.

Strongly Agree! How hard could it be to convince Brookfield to add 3 more floors of high value lease-able space?

I would think those floors (57,58,59 & 60) wouldn't be too hard to lease. I don't think the cost of adding 3-4 more floors would probably be no more than 1 1/2 to 2 percent more! Just a guess.

I'm not an architect, and maybe someone else can confirm, but the issue of going over 55/56 floors, seems to be the addition of extra elevators and that it changes the whole economics.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see 3 or 4 more floors added to push this to the 60 floor mark, and add another 50', but I think it impact the economics of it.

I don't think they would be driving piles in that location, would probably be right on the property line to maximize interior space in the parkade.

That truck looks way to small for driving piles. Probably drilling for some soil samples.

That's what I'm thinking too. IIRC I've seen something like that at sites like Aura2, Meredith Block, First South over the past few months and none of them are u/c yet.
