I'm an immigrant and I think that explains my attitude. I'll take any Canadian team, period. But I'm rooting for the Leafs because I want to see the Habs legions of world's biggest asshole fans- well at least on SSP, where they celebrate the Leafs' losses more than their own wins, which is the shittiest thing I've ever seen in any sport- twist in the wind. But even if Montreal were the last Canadian team standing, I'd support them and I despise them. But I despise any American team winning the cup again more.

See, because I earned my Canadian citizenship.

Well goodie for you. Air must be pretty thin up there. Despise.. Really? Jesus.

Most of the players on the American teams are Canadian anyway.

Anyway, nice that Cundari pots one in his first game. Young guys looking good. Loving TJs play especially.

Every year its the same thing

Flames fans coming out of the wood work to proclaim how much they DON'T want another Canadian team to win the cup. Pretty sad. I mean like seriously, we heard you the first 10 times. No one cares about your opinion anymore

Never said I don't want a Canadian team to win. But I won't cheer for one I don't give a crap about, Canadian or otherwise. That's the difference. Clear enough?

What makes you think anyone cares about your opinion? Who says that? I think your lost.. HF boards are over there.

These idiots arent getting a dime from me next season if we go into the season with the same creampuff forwards, useless vets and defensive abominations.

Well... we all knew Boston was going to target Iginla.

Video Link

Horton never came back in the game and didn't play today.

Ya I'm the same way..I don't care if the team is Canadian or not..
I just like to see a deserving team win the cup. I'm a sucker for those "feel good" stories.

If the most deserving team in the hockey universe (The Sens of course) were to be bounced or didn't make it into the playoffs, I have a short list of other teams I would like to see win.

For example, I was happy to see Chicago win after their long wait..Ditto for LA..I would be really happy to see St. Louis win their first.

I just can't bring myself to cheer on Pittsburgh or The Debs(Devils) though.
Come to think of it, I dislike all the teams in the Atlantic division. Can't stand them actually.

Ugh, the Flames are now in a worse draft position than the Oilers. Who was I to think that we could out-suck the kings of suck?

Are you kidding? Leafs fans are extremely attached to their team. There's a reason that they still have the biggest following in the NHL after almost a decade of missing the playoffs - immigrants who don't watch hockey haven't changed that. If the Leafs ever win the Cup the city would grind to a halt from the celebrations. It would make the Blue Jays championships in the 90s seem like child's play.

Supporting any team just because they are Canadian is no better than not wanting other Canadian teams to win. I'm pulling for teams because of the players or a particular team's story, or even for reason related to this forum.

I'm pulling for Pittsburgh because of Iginla, I'm pulling for the Sens because of the way they've hung in there all season with all those injuries, and I'm routing against Montreal because I couldn't possibly fathom more boasting from Nikko.

BTW, I don't find any issue with the Habs fans in general here on SSP. Have seen the posts from Theman23?

The Oilers are pissing me off. How could they possibly suck more than the Flames and their current farm club lineup??

It's funny that this comes up every spring, and no it isn't just Flames fans, that's butthurt Canucks fans saying that because we don't cheer for their team. I won't be cheering for Toronto either because I despise the Toronto based media, they are such big homers it's embarrassing. I would like to See Montreal, Ottawa and especially Winnipeg do well because they are Canadian.

I dont expect or want any Albertan hockey fan cheering for Vancouver. I would never cheer for the Flames or Oilers either. We're supposed to hate each other haha. Never cheer for your rival!!!

That's right, no self respecting Flames fan would ever cheer for the greasers or the Casucks.

I'd cheer for the Coilers anyday, as long as they're not play Calgary! Same goes for Winnipeg and I might even possibly jump on the Leaves bandwagon this playoffs... but I'm sure the CBC will sicken me enough after the first game broadcast to make me hate them again! Ottawa, Habs and the Whalers/Hockey Sticks/Whatevers out west... NEVER!

Maybe we should have started the season with the farm club lineup

Another big win for Columbus. I think these guys just might make it, which would be amazing considering they lost their big player in the off season and were at the bottom of the conference for a while.

Whalers? if you are referring to the Hartford Whalers, they are now the Carolina Hurricanes.

^^^ I think he just means that the Whalers have the same colours as Vancouver. Even though Vancouver used that colour scheme first.
