I think the Regent Mall location is about 134k sq ft.

According to Cadillac Fairview it is 134,000 sq ft also...guess they were built with the same plan haha.

There are other stores in the Mall even renovating or moving. I saw Blacks Picture opening and the Jeans...renovating but I'm wondering what is coming in the ACCESS Shop (Luggage shop) place. They are closing soon !!!

That Wal-Mart always seems so small to me for some reason, but if that's the size it will become a supercentre.

If I remember correctly, the store is on a full basement that hasn't been used since the Woolco days.

Maybe it's the two entrances that make it feel smaller? Regent Walmart closed off the mall entrance long ago, while putting in the front hallway, so that might help make it feel bigger.

The walmart in champlain is starting a renovation to convert it to a supercentre offering a full line of fresh food options. inside and outside will be refreshed. Bird construction is doing the work. going to be nice to see this corner of the mall renewed. I don't think this mall has basements?, from what I understand the entire structure sits on piles, due to the swamp it was built on....but then again I could be wrong...

So it has been confirmed then that both Wal-Marts in greater Moncton will be converted to supercentres?

I wonder when the announcement about the distribution centre will be made?

I was up in Scoudouc on the weekend. Man that place is pretty rough. I would have hated to see it before the new access road and interchange were built. Honestly though, I have a feeling the interchange was built because it was cheaper then reconstructing the other access road and maintaining it along with the out of date interchange at Highway 15.

it is indeed rough in there.....those pot holes will get you, new section is nice.

Having been in Bangor Maine omn Moday-Wednesday I can how it took time to get Stillwater Avenue built up to where it is now. It was my 10th trip there over five years and I was happy to see the Bangor Mall at 100% capacity and also the big box type stores to set up shop there. As to our cocerns with the Mapelton Power Center only time will tell I can see that within 2-5 years that spot will be booming with new retailers to set up shop in Moncton. But I find that that site has been cursed from the get go. But I can see the potential of that area. Als o I find if TAG would not have gone belly up that they were just a few month from openning here in town. I drove there and it looked like all the shelving was all set up inside and the branding stuff too. But only time will tell it would be a cool spot to set up a Best Buy there. But I am fairly optimist that it will be fully developped.

There is a construction trailer and some equipment on site at the Plaza Blvd Wal-Mart. I would say that work to convert this location to the supercentre format is imminent.

It looks also like they were moving dirt too so looking forward to see the conversion!!

This is the most recent site map of the Mapleton Centre, dated April 4th, 2013.

Of note, any reference to Tag has been removed from the document, so there now appears to be no doubt whatsoever that given the bankruptcy of Tag's parent company that any plans for the store at Mapleton have fallen through. Indeed, the rumours are that the entire chain will liquidate.

Also, although this map shows Ashley Furniture moving in next to Bed, Bath & Beyond, the Mapleton website itself now lists only one store expected to open in the development in 2013 - Banana Republic Factory Store.

So, the Mapleton Centre's travails continue. It is still early in the year, and a lot can happen between now and the pre Christmas season, but I am becoming increasingly concerned that the development will remain half vacant for quite some time.....

Seems like quite a few retailers aren't doing so well recently. Maybe this is not the best time for a major retail project such as this (probably would have been better if this project would have been completed by the initially targeted completion date years ago). That, and the fact that there are a limited number of national chains willing to do business in smaller CMAs such as Moncton, means that the pickings are slim to fill out so many retail spots. I'm confident things will turn around but agree that it might take a few years to see this place fill out entirely. At least the buildings will be there and ready when retail expansion turns back around in the area.

I went to the mall this morning and noticed that Zumiez is going to open in the old Addition-Elle location. From what I saw on their website, It's going to be their first canadian location outside of BC, Alberta and Ontario

. For those who are not aware what is Zumiez, they're pretty much like Boathouse and West49 combined together.

Champlain Place does very well at being considered as a first location for new stores coming into the region. I will have to check out the Zumiez website.

I see that Aveda is currently under construction next to Davis's Tea. I presume they will be opening in the next 4-6 weeks or so.

Still no action on Fossil or l'Occitaine, although they are both apparently confirmed for this year. I sort of wonder if Fossil might move into the old People's location.

More info on Zumiez

It's actually an American chain out of Seattle and they have over 400 stores in the US. As Lrdevlop pointed out, they currently only have Canadian locations in BC, Alberta and Ontario. There isn't much info on their Canadian website. The American website is more informative:

Champlain Place Update:

- Black's has opened in their new location next to Sobey's
- The old Black's space is already under renovation.
- The old Access location across from Black's is also under renovation.

Champlain therefore seems to be maintaining near 100% occupancy. The only space not currently occupied or under renovation is the old People's location.....
